If you allow your son to do it, why wouldn't you let your daughter ? ?
I'd rather see a parent be a part of it instead of the kid getting it done by a friend and getting infection or worse.

if she is mature you should totally let her do it!
i'm 13 and i'm getting a lip piercing!
if you didn't it wouldnt be fair, and it'd probly lower her self esteem even more.when i had my belly ring done i felt so happy!:) (besides a year from now when shes 18 she'll probly go get it done anyway...)make sure she cleans it ok?
URGENT!!!!MAKE SURE SHE GETS A ACCOUNT ON THE PLACE WHERE IT SAYS SOURCES!!!IT IS A VERY EDUCATIONAL FORUM WHEN IT COMES TO PIERCINGS!!!
SHE CAN LOOK AT IT BEFORE SHE JOINS THOUGH.BELIEVE ME IT HAS NO VIRUSES AND THE MEMBERS THERE ARE REALLY NICE.p.s. im a member there 2 :) my name on the site is Miss Angel USA tell her that i will show her everything she needs to know about the site and how to get the most out of it.tell her i said good luck!:)

If you're so liberal (letting your son do it) then I don't see a problem with it.
However! Just talk to your daughter about her low self-esteem. The fact that she wants one to be cool should be a warning sign. It starts of with a lip piercing, and then she could be ready to try other things her friends do to make her look better.
Trust me, its a VERY easy trap to fall into. I'm just lucky my mom is always there to remind me not to fall into it. I haven't done anythign so far, that I am not proud of.

we'll it depends on how mature she was. if i thought she was pretty immature for her age, or even average... i wouldn't let her. if i thought she had already basically developed into the kind of person she was going to be throughout her teenage years and i thought she was still going to like and wear it for at least a few years i might. i'd probably do what my mom did with me about my nose hoop though. I was 14 when I wanted it, she made me wait until I was 16 to see if I still wanted it. I did and now I love it:) So yeah, I'd probably make her wait until about 16, it all depends though.

The good thing about piercings is they are NOT permanent. If she wants to take it out in a couple of years she can. The only real concerns with oral piercings are teeth and gums. Make sure she understands that it could cause her dental problems, if caught early on the problem can usually be solved be taking the jewelry out. All in all I think she'd really enjoy it for many years to come.

My son at 17 wanted his eyebrow pierced, I didn't want him to get it done. But my husband had the right answer. Let him do it and after people make fun of him he wont want it anymore. My husband was right 3 months and he took it out.

u should let her.ive been pierced before and it can help your self esteem. you feel a bit more complete/ like if its an extension of yourself. but i took it out like 6 months later. i just got bored of it. maybe that will happen for your daughter too. and i had it in a weird spot. people looking at you isnt really a bother if you truly like having the piercing

No!
She might regret it later when she grows up.. Can u imagine a GM with a pierced lip?
She can gain her self esteem through so many other useful things, make her volenteer in some good activity. Feel her importance & that she is useful to the society & herself...
Better than a peirced lip!

so how does putting holes in a face bring the self esteem up? doesn't it give something to hide behind? Teach her that she is beautiful...get her a makeover...why would you let your children mutilate themselves to feel better. Just think...if it gets infected or looks horrible....what are you going to do to fix that....why would she want to take away the beauty of her face...and put something to draw attention away from it....
