While I agree that our generation is losing morals, I don't agree in how you think we're losing morals. Gay marriages and abortions, while highly controversial subjects, are certainly not a sign of lost morals or that our generation's headed for Hell in the proverbial handbasket.
Keeping myself from getting off topic and into a lengthy discussion on my beliefs regarding these two explosively laced topics, to answer your question on morals...
Yes, the current generation is losing morals and manners. However, it has utterly NOTHING to do with religion(or lack thereof). From what I understand, America is the most devoutly religious country amongst industrially developed nations, especially with the current political atmosphere in our post-9-11 world.
If we're losing morals as you and I both agree on(even if we don't agree on HOW morals are being lost), and America is so religious, obviously morality doesn't have squat to do with religion. If everyone's so religious and religion led to morality, there wouldn't be any need for the question you asked as everyone would, presumably, be more moral.
My opinion is that the reason behind all these lost morals as it were, is the lack of parental involvement. Not gays, not abortions or stem cells, not a lack of religion, not single mothers or teen pregnancies, not rock music, video games, violent movies or public schools and so forth. The list unfortunately goes on, and not a lick of it has to do with lost morals. They're merely a reflection of the culture we live in, which is starkly different from our professed devout beliefs.
Parents don't get involved with their kids. They just cut 'em loose, let 'em do whatever they want and don't set limits. Parents don't say "no" and discipline their kids properl and teach them manners. And before anyone gets any smart ideas, I do NOT advocate spanking at all. That's not what I meant by proper discipline. Punishment fits the crime, not copouts like "time out" and not brutality like spanking, thank you very much.
Kids are also raised to think they're entitled to everything when they're not. Parents just indulge them and give them every little thing from dolls to Playstations. Kids these days are raised to do what they please and to hell with anyone else's feelings. There are parents who do try, but there are unfortunately a LOT of parents who don't care, just plop the kids down in front of the TV and then complain about their kids' potty mouths or violent behavior. It's not the TV's fault, it's the parent's fault for not EXPLAINING things to kids, to sitting and paying attention to them, instead of leaving them to raise themselves.
It's no wonder we have such trouble with our youth these days, with school shootings, bullying, bad manners and so forth. Parents make babies, but they don't raise them when they should. Parenting is a HUGE responsibility, and sadly, most people these days aren't up to such a responsibility as they should be. They just want the pleasure and when pleasure brings a little bundle, they don't want to take responsibility, they just want to continue having fun.
Not ALL people in our generation is this way. There ARE good people, good parents, people who try hard and are honest. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who are indeed rotten to the core who are spoiling things for the rest of us out there who are decent.

Yeah, I think that we are gradually losing any morals that we had. But all for the sake on convenience... abortion as 'choice' for a bad situation, gay marriage for people whose lifestyles weren't accepted in the past. "You must understand that our civilization is so vast that we can't have our minorities upset and stirred. Ask yourself, What do we want in this country, above all? People to be happy. isn't that right?" -Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. Trying to please everyone causes us to lose sight of what is right.

Don't worry about what others are doing as much as what you are doing yourself for God will use you to condemn the sins of the world if you walk worthy. Give God Glory and Praise and He will Bless you because you do that which is right.Strive to enter in at the strait gate for many will try to enter in and will not be able.
For strait is the way that leadeth to life and few there be that find it. Broad is the way that leadeth to destruction and many there be that go in thereat.

yes, if you look back 25-40yrs ago things were alot better, parents had more respect and control over their children, now a days it seems parents just want their kids out of their face and they don't teach the meaning of values and respect for others in general? too many babies having babies and for the people who disagree with me usually are the ones that follow in that suit.life was alot easy then cuz u didn't have all the things that we have now

No you are so very wrong. You are trying to assign your personal beliefs based on your religion to the rest of humanity.
Morals are something shared by all social animals, and while they vary from on society to another they do not go away.
The problem is that your morals are based on a society that existed 2000 years ago, and you like your religion has not changed, while humanity has.

if you think gay marriage is immoral, you are the one who lacks morals--bigotry is the first sign, and if you don't like abortion, don't have one. people also do not make eunichs of themselves anymore--maybe you should try that if you're so hung up on the good old days

Tolerance for gays is an indication of increased morals, not decreased morals.
