It's said in Japan that using voiced consonants (dakuon) for girl's names might bring unfortunate events into girls' lives. (ex. becoming a widow at a young age)

Dakuon: ga, gi, gu ge, go, za, ji, zu, ze, zo, da, de, do, ba, bi, bu, be, bo, etc. as in Kaede, Sango, and Mizuki,

I'd pick Naomi for girl, and Ren for boy. Naomi is kind of an old-fashioned name in Japan, like Emma, Isabella, and Madeleine in the U.S., but could be a cool name if we use "fashionable" kanji for Naomi. Ren means lotus which is a sacred plant of Hinduism and Buddhism. In Buddhism, the sight of a white lotus flower above the muddy water represents an enlightened one in the world full of ignorant people. Ren, however, doesn't sound religious at all but hip and cool! Isn't it interesting?

I'd like to make corrections to the names you listed.

3. Kikyo (Japanese bellflower)
4. Amayo, not Amaya (raining night, not night rain. See the slight difference?)
5. Nikita (I'm Japanese but have never heard of the word before.)
7. Mizuki (The meaning of Mizuki depends on which kanji you use, and yes, it could mean "beautiful moon.")

I like Amaya. The meaning (night rain) is gorgeous and quite descriptive. It has meanings of both mystery and cleansing. Aside from the meaning, it rolls off the tongue easiest, so it sounds gentle.

Mizuki - it's the name of one of the girls in my favourite anime. Also I just think it's a beautiful name.

I like Sango because it sounds nice, and also means coral.

I really like the sound of Amaya.

As for Kaede, that sounds good as well . My cousin's son is named Kade.

Nozomi's a nice name. I think it means dream. Sakura's a pretty popular one, that one means cherry blossom.
