Gospel According to Saint Luke
Chapter 8

5 The sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.

6 And other some fell upon a rock: and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it had no moisture. 7 And other some fell among thorns, and the thorns growing up with it, choked it. 8 And other some fell upon good ground; and being sprung up, yielded fruit a hundredfold. Saying these things, he cried out: He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. 9 And his disciples asked him what this parable might be. 10 To whom he said: To you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to the rest in parables, that seeing they may not see, and hearing may not understand.

11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12 And they by the way side are they that hear; then the devil cometh, and taketh the word out of their heart, lest believing they should be saved. 13 Now they upon the rock, are they who when they hear, receive the word with joy: and these have no roots; for they believe for a while, and in time of temptation, they fall away. 14 And that which fell among thorns, are they who have heard, and going their way, are choked with the cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and yield no fruit. 15 But that on the good ground, are they who in a good and perfect heart, hearing the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit in patience.

We must follow Christ as He has done the will of the Father. If we choose to follow our own ways then we are saying that we are our own god. If you serve Jesus, you serve the Father. And the Holy Spirit who guides us only speaks as He is told by the Father. Why try to make salvation so complicated? It is not a man who can save you. It is not good works that save you. None of us can be good enough to reach holiness on our own. A church can not save you. Water babtism does not save you (it is simply follow Christ's example as we should do). And yes, if you choose to serve the Lord in truth and in spirit not just lip service, the end will definately justify the means. Eternal life in the presence of God or damnation to hell to be tortured eternally. Not a hard choice.

Following Jesus is more a metaphor of example. The reason God came down to be man, was to create a role model for man to strive to be. It does not mean you must be him in every detail, but look at his simple life. If you pay attention to the New Testament, it attempts to portray Jesus as a simple common man, he loves his family, loves his friends, his enemies, he lives simply, and simply loves...and that is what is meant to follow Jesus.

It all depends where he's going.

If he's going somewhere that's obviously a silly place to go (like the war in Iraq which Mr Bush assures us is Jesus idea), then he needs a good slap and told to stop presuming he knows enough to lead a child across the road (as might be said about the aforementioned Mr Bush).

FEAR is why you people follow, simple think. You live in a village of about 600 people, everyone there is equal, all the people share the food, knowledge of hunting and fishing, your whole village is in harmony with each other. Then evil people enter your village rape your women, kill the elders and take the young as slaves and this is done repeatedly and in the name of control and power. people will have a choice either die by their sword or live by the grace of the Lord

Read the Gospels and see what Jesus left for us,and who he empowered to assist us.

The church he personally founded still exists today.

The truths he left us still subsist in that church.

The successors of those he empowered to assist us are still at work today.

There is no difference between Jesus' way and the church's way, because Jesus still remains the head of his church.

The only church that was personally founded by Jesus is the Catholic Church.

there's a super decision of persons who accompanied their very own 'divine' occasion. it extremely is asserted as penitentiary. Your argument is 'superfluous' - no longer Jesus or Christianity. For the checklist, God does comprehend the few who're clearly righteous... yet they're very few that are clearly "consistent with the classes of Jesus."

To follow in the foot steps of Jesus would be rather difficult for any human to handle. But to be kind,giving,compassionate,understanding,etc....is exactly what he'd like us all to be.
