My first question is, What kind of mange does she have? Sarcoptic or Demodex? Demodex is genetic, so if that is what the mom has so does the pup. You need to take mom to the vet for treatment & meds if you haven't already.

My second question is, Why did your lab have only one puppy? Labs usually have 5-10 puppies, so if she only had one you need to seek veterinary help immediately. If there are more puppies in her uterus and she isn't having any more babies, she could die.
You will need to feed the puppy every 2-3 hours (even through the night) and then make it go to the bathroom by rubbing him with a warm paper towel. You will need to make sure he isn't getting too warm on the heated blanket, because he could develop burns or blisters if he can't get away from the heat. Don't handle him too much while he is still little. He will have a low immune system since he isn't getting his immunities from his mother's milk. When he is 2 weeks old, you need to deworm him with dewormer from a vet's office (not from wal-mart, that stuff doesn't work). He will need to be dewormed every 2-3 weeks until he is 6 months old. When he is 5-8 weeks old, you will need to start weaning him. He will also need his first set of vax when he is 6 weeks old.
Good luck to you, your momma dog, and your new puppy!!

The mother dog needs treatment for the mange right away if you are not allready doing so DO IT! it spreads! The others are right you have to feed the puppy every 2 hours or so and use the wet papertowel to allow it to be able to pottie or it will die! If you don't think you can do all of these things and be consistant then I would sugget taking the mother and the pup to the nearest SPCA right away! Pets are expensive and require alot of love and care a tiny puppy requires even more time and effort.

You don't deserve to own a dog. You're letting the mother dog suffer with mange, and then you take her puppy away from her.The pup needs it's mothers milk .The mother needs to see a vet right now.I agree with the first answer;if you lived next door to me,you'd be reported to the Humane Society.Don't you have any feelings at all?I can't believe how many stupid people are on here.

Holy crap, you are serious? I hope for the welfare of those animals you are just joking. Take these dogs to the vet. Both the mom and the puppy. What kind of pet owner are you to allow your dog to get mange, get pregnant, never get the mange treated, and keep your dog outside?! Do those dogs a favor - get them to a vet, and then allow a responsible person to adopt them. Seriously, if I were a neighbor of yours, you'd already have had Animal Welfare called on your ***.

You need to take her to the vet.
The mange needs to be treated.
A lab having one puppy...does not sound usual to me. I would be worried there are other puppies still in there, dead. She needs to be checked, definately.
If you can't afford to care for these animals, then please do them a favor and turn them over to a shelter who can.

i believe u are doing the well but make sure ur hands are really clean before handling the puppies dun allow them to lick u, as the puppies are not on breastmilk they tend to fall sick easily. when the puppy is older u try to place it together with the mother. u can always ask/ seek advice from ppl in petsmart. u can ask the groomer(young lady sometimes at the casher) or the boss(young man) there. they have lots of experience and will definatly be more than happy to help u.
