Yeah, that was always a very strange theory... that suffering is the result of OUR sinning. But who set up the rules like that? Who said "if you sin, people who had nothing to do with your sin will suffer as a consequence"? Who made that POSSIBLE?
I doubt you're going to answer.

Yes...Absolutly!! We are talking about a creator who is Love. We are talking about a creator who had a purpose for humans and the earth that did not include any suffering. What could possibly stop him from realizing this purpose? Nothing!
There was the small matter of someone else who challenged his right to rule the universe. Since the first human couple had not yet had children and since the entire universe of spirit angels were watching the situation, the Creator wisely allowed the Resister (Satan) to try to prove his point, (that mankind does not need God)...and to allow humans to experiment with all forms of government and rule, only to learn that they cannot rule themselves, and they need God's rulership and direction.
Now ...what this means is TEMPORARY allowance of evil and suffering, but all the while with good direction available, if we would only follow it. God does not cause suffering, he only allows it temporarily. We each can play a part in proving God to be the rightful ruler of the universe.
When Satan and man prove to be collosal failures, God will END suffering.....he will eliminate those who created the situation. He will resurrect everyone sleeping in death including all who have ever suffered, but this time never to suffer again!

God is not responsible for suffering, man is. God gave man free will to choose, and when men choose to behave in ways that harm themselves and/or others, suffering results. God never promised an easy life, but He has promised to help us through if we are in a right relationship with him. The problem is that many either forget or ignore that this life is temporary, which means all earthly suffering is temporary. If no one ever suffered, if everything was always perfect, how appealing would Heaven be?

Its funny that you say that because yes sin does seperate us from God and yet God continually blesses us. I have a wonderful job, an outstanding and supportive group of friends and a beautiful home...and most of my family is tolerable. Despite of me, he continually blesses me, suffering is a part of life just like joy. I will not question God and his decision to test me or anyone else in the human race. He is God and sometimes we are dealt things we deserve and sometimes we are not but he created us does he not have the right to test our commitment and strength? I do recognize that some tests are harder than others and I am not taking away from the struggle that many suffer through, I just say trust in him and believe that he is God and when it is your time to be delivered you will be. And if it's not in your lifetime, there will be a reward for you in his home.

I think suffering is a way to test us if we are strong and if we will truly believe in God the whole time. I think that if we are strong and truly believe in God the whole time, we will be rewarded later on (heaven). But it has to come from the heart.

If God exists, the suffering in the world doesn't matter. What matters is how each person deals with that suffering and whether they maintain their faith.

God allows pain and suffering so through it the ultimate good may manifest itself.
How do you know how victory feels unless you felt defeat?
For a good book on this read C.S. Lewis' "The Problem with Pain."

This assumes that there is no valuable lessons that suffering can teach us.
God will never interfere in our spiritual growth.
