We are seriously considering adoption and would like to hear from those who have been through the process - either adoptive parents or adopted children. Of course if you have experience in some other way please feel free to share your thoughts too.
Thanks

My only advice might be if you are planning on telling the child he/she is adopted, do it from an early age so it is something they always know. Or, much later in life where they will be able to understand. My father passed away when I was 29 and it wasn't until then that I found out quite by accident that he wasn't my biological father. Then my mother (biological-only my father was adoptive parent) passed away when I was thirty so I never really got the chance to ask a lot of questions about my biological father. Mostly because I didn't know what to ask yet as it was such new information. But I did agree with my mother that as a teenager I probably wouldn't have taken the news too well and they did not wish to tell me as a young child. It was still tough and I have so many questions, so my only advice would be have the child always know or wait until later in life. Just my two cents about something I have experienced. Sorry if I rambled...I was very proud to have the father that I had and loved him very much. He didn't have to adopt me and it made him so much more of a father in my eyes. Good luck!

My husband was adopted as a infant, he is a wonderful person, thank God his real mom who was in no way able to raise a child was unselfish enough to realize all that mattered was her son have a wonderful family, that could give him not just material things, but love of 2 parents, stability etc. I myself had wanted to adopt and to this day regret not doing so, what a act of love to adopt a child and know you will be the most important people in this childs life! What a feeling of joy this must be. Cons few if u want to adopt, and give ur all to this baby or child.

The pros are loving and raising a child. I see no cons. I considered adoption if I were unable to have kids.

We have just adopted 2year old twins and they are so wonderful. Just decide what you want in a family, 1child 2 or more, then decidehow you are going to go about it. it is so great !!we love our little babies, if you would ever consider twins, they are wonderful.
