God put in every human the knowledge that they were created. It's called a soul. That's why every civilization known to man has search for "God".
We are all born with the knowledge that we shouldn't kill people. That we shouldn't take their things. Every civilization has laws like these. They were written in our heart.
So...my parents had nothing to do with me knowing Christ.

Curious that you'd ask that. There's several ways to answer this.
First off, we're all born atheist. Yup, that's right. We're not born with an automatic belief in God or anything else. We don't know squat until we're taught what to believe. If I hadn't been indoctrinated, I either would've been taught something else or not believed at all.
If I was told there wasn't any God or anything else, that's probably what I would've believed. Same for the space alien bit. We don't know anything until we're taught by our parents and elders what to believe, be it God, nothing, or aliens. It's only when we're older and learn for ourselves that we choose to continue believing or learn to question and ultimately cast off what we were taught as children.

I suspect they'd be exactly what they are currently. The space alien option should be qualified though. If 2/3 of all parents told their kids they originated from outer space, it would likely be the popular belief as Christianity is currently.
The only truth is simply that there is little point in trying to argue or even discuss religion using solid logic and thoughtfull questions with those who are cemented in their beliefs...
It's an uphill battle at the very least, optimistically speaking.

If you are of a sound mind and even if your parents told you that there was no God you are without excuse. Romans 1: 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:Titus 2: 11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, The creation declares that there is a God. Psalms 19: 1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

That's a good question. I think I would still find God.
When I went off to college, my mother gave me the best advice..."Go out and find yourself...spiritually, mentally, and socially."
I was born and raised Catholic, and when I arrived at the university, I explored all kinds of religions, christian, jewish, and muslim. But found myself drawn back to the Catholic Church.
If my parents told me that space aliens put us here, I think I would have ran away!

I can see what you are trying to do, and it isn't going to work on me. Even if I had never heard of God and Jesus the Savior, I would believe in a higher power. Man is not the mighty being he thinks he is. Reason will tell you there must be a higher power, call it what you will, but it is there.

I was raised catholic. Actually what my family and religion told me made me think that God did not exist.
Then this happened to me.
Several years ago I had an unusual experience concerning an uncle, a distant relative who lived over a thousand miles away.
While driving my car I suddenly felt the unmistakable presence of this relative that I hardly even knew. He was more like someone I had heard about than someone I knew. It was very strange; it felt as though I was momentarily lifted right out of my physical body. I seemed to be suspended somehow beyond space and time, bathed in a love so intense It felt like I could have just disappear into it at any moment if It would have let me. It only lasted for a few seconds, but it seemed to last forever at the same time. I realize how crazy this must sound. The experience was so strong that at first I was afraid I was loosing my grip on reality. I finally managed to chalk it up to an over active imagination.
Three days later I got a call from my aunt telling me that this uncle we are talking about had gone into a coma and died the day I had the experience. It felt like ice water had been poured down my back when she told me this. I had lost any real ideas of God or faith and had become somewhat of an atheist. Needless to say this experience caused me to rethink some of the conclusions I had come to.
I feel blessed to now understand that even in our darkest confusion something loves us so much that it went out of its way to assist me and bring me back to a state of absolute certainty about Gods love for us.
During the experience it seemed like there was a vast amount of information that I was somehow allowed access to. One thing that I came away from this experience understanding beyond any shadow of a doubt was that any Idea that God is unhappy with us or would judge or allow us to be punished for any reason is simply impossible.
I can’t explain the love I felt with words. They simply don’t make words big enough or complete enough to do this. The only way I can begin to convey this love to you is to say that there was simply nothing else there. Nothing but love. No hint of judgment, no displeasure of any sort. It is as though God sees us as being as perfect as we were the day we were created. It is only in our confused idea of ourselves that we seem to have changed.
I hope this is of some help to you. Good luck. Love and blessings.
Your brother

Although, raised Catholic, I did most of my spiritual discovery and growth on my own.
Two years ago, I had a spiritual awakening of sorts, so I think even if I didn't believe in God from the beginning, I would start two years ago.

I could never doubt the existence of someone who introduces themselves to me. God is that real. I trust him. I love him. And I know that he has blessed and protected me up until this very day. Yes my parents took me to church every Sunday, grew up in church for years, but there comes a point where you learn and know him for yourself and that you cant deny or mistake.
