then try to change it to be just like the place they left?

Are they only here to benefit from the social programs our tax dollars pay for and take jobs that do not require them to pay into the system?

A bridge and several streets in PA are named for my family. They being one of the earliest settlers.

They took no medicare, s.s. or other benefit paid for by the founders of this country. They didn't insist that all the street signs be printed in English and Dutch.

They came to America to be Americans.

I can understand why they come here.

I do agree that they take advantage of our social programs.

They get hired under the table by a dishonest American, they don't pay into the system.

They will however collect S.S. when the time comes. We cannot afford it!

Immigrants from many countries come her but get legitimate jobs and PAY taxes and no one complains.

It is only those doing things illegally that cause the problem and put a burden on our tax dollars.

Have you as an American ever benefited from a social program? I haven't, why should they?

I think that originally, they want to make a better life for themselves. Perhaps the countries they come from won't let citizens own land and businesses or whatever. BUT then they get here and the people that are already here talk to them and tell them, hey stand up for whatever-that is what it is ll about here-FREEDOM. SO then they start thinking about it and they feel that we are then obligated to conform to them. Like they get the big head or something. Like they get here and feel that we owe them something.

Every immigrant is nostalgic for the place they called home. Ever been to Chinatown? Ever seen the Italian sections of town? It doesn't even matter for how many generations the families have been here. Immigrants for the most part hand down to future generations reminders of home.

They are not eligible for any benefits from our government - not welfare, not social security, not medicaid. Many of these illegals DO pay into the system in which they will never be able to use.

for better opportunities, for a decent life...some countries can't offer the basics such as health programs, public education or even freedom. Look what's happening in Sudan right now, people are just piling it up in Dafur, scared to what could happen to them if they stay in their homes... The U.S is not the only country people go to, people travel around for many reasons and sometimes find a place that they like so much and want to stay...I think diversity can only add good things to a culture.

"Mainly they come for the jobs and freedom of religion... we are THE most free country on the entire planet."

Gosh you Americans are deluded if you still think that. So are the refugees and other immigrants if they still want to live there.

I thank the stars every night I did not emigrate to USA.

Take a look of yourself, you yourself are a direct descendant of your immigrant ancestors who are basically of European racial descent, especially English and I do not have the vaguest idea of what the other European nationalities are, but you are still of European racial descent! Take a look at me, my ancestors are British, Irish, Italian, and German and they all come to this country for multiple reasons : looking for freedom, looking for jobs, getting ahead in life, and getting adapted to a new way of life and putting aside handed-down beliefs, traditions, and customs. If it weren't for immigrants in this country, we ourselves wouldn't be here!

I think the best way to answer your question is for you to go to any one of these countries and stay for a couple of weeks that will be enough to more than answer your question, and believe me then you will know, As far as changing our country lets use the northern Yankee,As an example, he has screwed up the north so much no one wants to live there any more so he brings his family to the sunny south, where life is so much better then he wants to change the south into what the north is now, so what is the answer???

a few weeks ago in mexico, people who sell flowers were told by the govt to get a license to sell flowers. they are poor and cannot. so,they said no. Fox's govt. slaughtered 14 in cold blood and sent 1000 troops to lock down the area.

many years ago, people in mexico overthrew their govt and installed a democratic govt. we invaded and overthrew that govt.

this may help you understand some of the real reasons that people, who know nothing about our social programs before they come, come.

you should take up your complaints with bush for letting them flow in and with the employers who hire undocumented workers. it's the employers who are stopping the taxes from coming out of those salaries and going into our coffers.

someone's hurting us, but it isn't the tired, the poor, the huddled masses yearning to breathe free.
