But I recently started a new job and Im not home with my kitten as much, The problem is I feel sad everytime I think of her and I always think of her. Shes only 6 months. It doesn't interfer with my work and there is usually someone home while Im at work. I felt the same way about my kids when they were younger. I feel theres no care like a mothers care..(I know that not always true) Is this normal ..will I get over it soon..does she get stressed without me because she does an awful lot of whining (5 seconds) as soon as I get threw the door.. Am I normal ?,, did you as a cat owner ever feel this way ever?..This is my first pet as a adult

Ah, honey! I so know where you're coming from! I have a 4 month old kitty, and my heart breaks every time I walk out the door! I've was also made redundant 5 weeks ago, so I've spent soooo much time with him the last couple of weeks, and I went away for the night last night, and my flatmate told me he was a bit down last night...bad mummy! I'm starting work again next week, and I think we're really going to miss eachother...I think she might be showing her affection for you when you come in and she makes alot of noise, trying to get your attention...she's saying that she missed you!

It's very normal. I miss my cats everytime I have to leave the house. I often wonder what they're doing, if they're okay, do they miss me, etc. There's nothing childish about it. She's your baby, you're her mommy and you love each other.

The good news is that cats don't percieve time like adult humans do. They're like small children and don't quite understand how much time has gone by. She whines because she doesn't understand why you're leaving the house and wants you to stay with her. But she doesn't understand how long you'll be gone, so it's the same as if you went out of the house to talk to a neighbor for five minutes.

When you come home from work, be sure to give her plenty of love and let you know you missed her. That way, she won't be as upset after a while. She'll realize that you will always come back.

i feel that way all the time. one time i went up to MA for a month and she wouldnt stop crying when she went in my room. she was okay though, just a little lonely, after all i am her mother no matter how many people are in the house. when i get home from work shes my number one priority. shes my kitty! i love her! i've had her since she was a kitten, and now she is 3 years old. i'm pretty sure your kitty will do fine, i throw the door open when i come home and she comes charging at me lol.dont worry! you and your kitty will be fine :)

We have two kittens because I felt exactly the same way!

My partner and I both work and we thought it would be unfair for a kitten to be home alone. I know they have a good time together, and are able to keep one another company. Of course, they love when we come home!

Your kitten (and her owner) will soon get used to your new schedule. She'll adapt and will get in some of her catnaps while you're away. I've heard they have videos now specifically for cats. Maybe she'd enjoy one of those. Or maybe she'd enjoy a video of you talking to her. Of course, she'd be wondering how you got into that box (the TV) and may try to get you out or join you in there. Be careful with that, but see if she likes it. Put her picture on your desk, if you have such priveliges, or wear a locket with her photo inside. Then you'll have her with you.

Honey its ok...you are a good cat mama...
I would leave PBS Kids on for my kittens until recently...LOL Maybe you want to get another kitten to keep it company...I have two adult cats and a few months ago adopted two kittens who were just 2 weeks old when their mama died. They are doing great now and love to play and romp with each other...maybe if your kitten had a playmate you would not have to worry so much...Good luck hon!

well it is normal fro a young kitten to get very attatched to her owned but as she gets older she will start to stop whining when ur gone, or u could get another kitten to keep her company, so she could have a friend to play with. and that would take ur mind off of her while ur at work knowing she has a friend and she isnt lonley

You are normal.....get a picture of her and keep it with you. Look at it when you feel sad and talk to her. I know that sounds crazy but trust me it will help. As far as her...live a tv or radio on when you are gone and something of yours that has your smell on it. she will feel comfort in it. also, if you have a answering machine you could call it a couple of times in the day and talk to her if its where she can hear it...Good Luck

Sounds to me like she has taken quite the attachment to you, in her eyes you are master/companion. She may like others but you are toppy kitty so to say so it's normal that she misses you while gone and as soon as you get home, her meowing is her way of greeting you and wanting your attention. Be sure to give it to her so that bond will remain strong. As long as you aren't gone for great lengths of time (like days or weeks) she will be fine. It's just like your kids missing you while you work, our animals are like our kids now aren't they? ;) And it's perfectly normal that you miss her!! I still go through that with all of my animals!

My girl friend was the same way. However the cat adjusted. But for you, you may want to look for a job you can do at home, that way you can be a stay-at-home-mom.
