About once a week, a guy I am attracted to will sort of pat the upper part of my arm a couple of times when we are parting conversation. He does it and then immediately walks away. It seems very spontaneous and casual. Is this something men do with just anyone?

This might seem shalow but guys usually dont give the time of day to a girl taht they are not interested in. I would say that an arm pat is a sign of him liking you.

I think one pat there sounds consoling and "sorry, it will never happen" but more than one pat says, "maybe" but what do I know? If it is a pretty forceful pat, I would guess he may be interested, as it gestures a fighting his denial of the reality of the gesture in the consoling part/pat. If it is gentle, you are wasting your time. Just an opinion But I think it would be the other way around for a woman to a man, or a gay to hetero conversation (more like a -"next time just a conversation instead of overtures" forceful pat-sign). Or maybe, I am absolutely insane. Nooooo, spontaneous and casual, and immediately leaving, he's consoling you. sorry He doesn't like you. I'd bet 90% on this. If he liked you he'd touch your forearm or hand instead

Some people talk with there hands,your Friend maybe touching you to bond with you and not to offend you.Yes he likes you,but if you don't like being touched tell him so.

Yeah i suppose so. Because for instance a guy rapes a lady, its not because he's interested in her but he just wants a quickie( release).

why don't you observe that particular man interacting with other people and see if he does it to them.
