6 weeks is best if mom is still around, but i fostered a litter of 5 whos mom died when they were only 2 weeks old and around 4 1/2 weeks they started refusing the bottle half the time so i weaned them over the course of about a week or two. As long as your kitten can eat the solid food he should be fine, but if he's having trouble chewing it you can help him out by mixing it with some water into a little softer mush, or try some canned kitten food mixed with his dry.

I've had small kittens like this (these guys were rescues, their momma died when they were a few weeks old), and I started putting out the dry cat food along with the wet food when they were about 6 weeks, and my babies would start eating it when they were ready. They were on just dry food (with the occasional canned treat) by the time they were about 8 weeks old.

Your kitten should be ready to eat solid foods by now but u might want to slowly wen him off the milk or what ever he eats right now he will eventually start to eat solid food

At five to six weeks, so yours should be ready to go. Start with a dry kitten food moistened with water, after a while he will enjoy crunching. Only feed canned food occasionally as a treat.

I think that you can introduce him to solid food. My kittens were about that age when I started them on solid food and when I gave it to them they went to town! LOL I started out with canned food and then dry...now I am feeding both to them...I do that because I feed both to my 2 adult cats as well. I feed them kitten chow now and then but they also eat the adult food...good luck!

I would have thought so.
Try offering some tinned kitten food mixed to a mush with a little hot water (not too hot though)
Other people suggest using baby food or perhaps soaked dried kitten food.
Good luck.

they should learn to eat on their own, just leave food out for them, if they start to eat it, its time! if you dont have kitten food to give them, give them BOILED chicken, this has the same amount of nutrients that they need. do NOT feed them milk, no matter how much cats like the stuff, they are lactose, i may like chinese food but that doesnt mean i should eat it b/c it'll make me sick. same thing for cats and milk. and even if they dont get sick, it could ruin their intestines, its harder to digest. 6 weeks is pretty good to try feeding them. good luck! and if you have any questions about cat care feel free to email me at geministar872004@yahoo.com

He's right on time. They say 5-8 weeks they should start to try chicken or dry food. Make sure you check with the vet though. I won't want a cute little thing like him to get sick. :-]
