The odds are dependant upon many factors such as how "many" cigarettes you smoke each day your size and lung capacity. how deeply you inhale and the brand of cigarettes you smoke. Try Pall Mall non filtered for instance. I started on em at about 9 yrs old started smoking regular at by age 15-16 (Marlboro reds and quit 16 years ago. No outward signs of damage. No problems i know about. yet. George Burns smoked big nasty cigars till he was 100. I quit but might not make it to be 100. You just never know what the odds really are. Realistically there are so many types of cancer that if you don't die young from something tragic then you will most likely die of some type of cancer. or heart attack. 50/50??

I think the amount you smoke and your genetics affects your odds, so it's difficult to say for sure. The ONLY sure thing is that your odds are increased if you are a smoker vs. a non-smoker.
The interesting thing is that they figured out that smoking causes cancer around 1935. There was a huge surge in smoking during WWI (free cigs for the troops), lung cancer was unheard of before that since few people smoked.
Oh and you have a greater risk of emphysema, it is worse than lung cancer in some ways (you spend about 5 years drowning).

There are no hard odds on that.
You should be aware that the death rate for someone diagnosed with lung cancer is 86% and that most people who are diagnosed die within one year of the diagnosis.
You are better off not playing those odds.

it's actually almost a certainty if you smoke for long enough
some people just die of emphysema before they develop the lung cancer
odds are very small if you smoke only 1 cigarette in your life
they increase with every one you smoke

100% if you don't die from something else first...
I wouldn't mess with it.
You don't really like smoking, you just get addicted. If you haven't started, then don't :)
If you have, stop before your life gets [messed] up.
I've known a few people who did and stopped; they're much happier and overall a lot better off!

I dont know...
but have you seen the latest Truth ad? LOL. I thought it was pretty good. The one with the guy singing with the stoma (hole in his throat). He had to use the voice thing to sing the song.
You dont always die from tobacco, sometimes you just get a hole in your neck. You dont always die from tobacco, sometimes they just cut out your tongue.
I thought it was clever.
