Because they always assume that if you don't believe, you couldn't possibly understand what you're talking about when it comes to "their turf". If you're not part of the club then you don't matter and your opinion is automatically bunk. It's cult mentality, pure and simple.
And yes, atheists have the right to be here just as everyone else does. This is a section for questions regarding the subjects of religion and spirituality. It's not a clubhouse for the religious and spiritual.

I have no problem with science, most science goes hand in hand with my belief anyway. I don't understand why so many atheists are in the Religion/Spiritual section though, atheism is a lack of religion, and if you have no soul, how can you be spiritual? So basically, there's you have no religion or spirituality, so I'd love to hear a logical reason you guys hang out in this section other than the tired excuse of "truth", which you obviously believe is a big bang from nothingness, which belongs in the science section anyway. Just curious why you're all so darn interested in something you keep saying you don't even believe in.

I'm not sure I understand. I am a Christian and have absolutely no problem with anyone quoting a scientist or anyone else for that matter. I don't know who or how many you've seen act this way, but it is certainly not Christian at all.

Yes, we have the right to quote Scripture. How else are we gonna teach the heathen ?? That is the way so many of us have learned certain Bible verses. It is Great to quote God's word. Our Minister quoted many wonderful Scripture to me and I am so Thankfull. Good question, you get an A+.

I don't think it's so much that Christians who quote like you say...have a problem with you quoting science, but you will get an argument because they won't agree with what you're quoting.
When a Christian quotes the bible and you disagree, I'm sure you make comments to that affect as well.

They don't have a problem with the concept of quoting, it's what you quote that's the problem. If the quote goes against what The Bible says (i.e. Daytime was created before the Sun) then that quote is instantly wrong. Aren't humans great!

Does that mean Christians aren't allowed to quote scientists? What if they agree with the science?

I agree. If someone asks a question, someone can answer a question. This forum says religion and spirituality not rather one has it or not. However, I don't think that because of sheer numbers, any good reasoning will win out. The Christians get angry when they aren't winning. They don't understand the concept of the OTHER PEOPLE!

I don't have a problem with you quoting the findings of fallible men either. As long as you keep it in the historical context of realizing that time and again, scientific theorems and 'proofs', held as absolute timeless truths, have later proven to be wildly erroneous, poorly constructed attempts at understanding the world around us.
Quote away.

Actually I appreciate the fact that you regard atheism as a belief system -- of course you belong in "Religion & Spirituality". Everyone starts with a "faith" presupposition: "God is" or "God isn't". Neither presupposition can be proven; both have a responsibility to carefully examine all the available evidence in forming an opinion.
