why teach him how to fight, why not how to reason and talk things out! its really a lot better to learn how to get along with others than to fight, if you meant to to learn self- defense technique then its another matter because that is sport which is good for his character

I had the same problem with my son when he was in 4th grade. He is shorter than most kids his age and he got picked on a lot. I was a single mother and it got to the point where I could no longer fight his battles for him because teachers were not letting me get involved anymore. So what I did was put my son in a karate school so that he can get confident in fighting. He joined many karate competitions and he got all the way up to a blue belt. As his belt color got higher so did his confidence. Now he is in 6th grade and he is no longer afraid of other kids picking on him. He now has the confidence of being able to defend himself if necessary. But I also told him that if he ever started a fight, there will be some grave consequences by me. Good luck.

When I was 14 and my little sister was 12, I decided to stop taking up for her at school and started teaching her how to fight. Best thing I ever did for her. I took an old mattress down to our basement and set it up against the wall and made her beat on it for 30 minutes and then i'd run her around our base 2 times. About 3 months later a girl that had been calling her fat got beat up. By who? My little sister. She also lost about 30 lbs and has been fit ever since. And for those who think telling a kid to fight when they have problems is wrong. My sister is now a flight paramedic and she's one tough cookie. Before I started teaching her she was a wuss and wouldnt take up for herself.

Hmm I believe I got anser for this. Enroll him in Tae Kwon Do....I take the classes and I learned self defense very well also they teach you about Using reflexes right and etc they also do Forms (Figthting Against Imaginary Oppenents) which helps you regulate power and other things....The best would be TKD,Judo,or Kung Fu, but I recommend TKD...The easiest to learn After he learns TKD, he can easily start with karate. Also TKD helps to get in shape and stuff.

Get him enrolled in a karate class. Not only do they teach self-defense, they also teach tolerence and how to avoid a fight. Fighting is not a long-term answer to a bully problem.

Teach him how to throw a punch. And teach him when it is appropriate to do it.
