You are not going to like this answer but here it is
If you continue to eat tthis far below your base metabolic rate (which is usually around 1200 1500 a day) your body goes into starvation mode which means that
1. your metabolism will slow down to compensate for the lack of calories (it is self preservation and this is meant to combat starvation, you cannot stop it )
2. Your body will store fat (again, self preservation)
3. Your body will start to burn muscle for energy (each pound of muscle burns 40 calories metabolically vs 3 for a pound of fat so you are further trashing your metabolism)
4. Your hair will start to get dull and split from lack of nutrition
You will certainly lose weight but, you will also screw up your metabolism beyond belief in the process and tear into your muscle - so when you gain the weight back (as 95% of americans do.. ) you will not regain the muscle only the fat and will be the same weight or higher than when you began but will have a lower metabolic rate
That having been said, why not try to lose weight and relieve stress the healthy way ?? Go for a brisk walk do a few calesthenics .... put good healthy foods into your body -
This will not only help you to lose fat but will raise your self esteem and help you feel a whole lot better in a crummy situation
ps. The American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology says that you only need to gain 12 - 15 pounds to have a healthy baby and that you only need 500 calories a day over your normal daily intake to have a perfectly healhty child - 60 pounds sounds like a lot of bad habits developed

if you're not eating enough calories than your body needs, it could go into starvation mode and reserve the fat (energy), thus, your plan will backfire. i know you want to lose weight fast, but how long do you plan to starve yourself and burn yourself out before you can't take it anymore and binge? if you want to lose weight the right way and keep it off, you need to change your diet permanently. you don't have to go nuts counting calories. just make smarter choices when it comes to food. choose an apple over a danish. try doing the 80/20 rule. this works for me. eat good during the week and relax on the weekends. this will help you to keep your diet for a lifetime, not two weeks...and it will also help you to appreciate the "bad" foods when you do eat them, and retain some of the guilt you would feel. you mentioned that you feel fat now because you're retaining water. try eating foods with less salt and drink more water to flush your system. hope this helps.

I'm surprised this is your first question if your husband suddenly abandoned you with 4 kids, including a baby?
You'll lose 3-4 pounds a week at 500 regular calories, less if low carb calories, but be sure of 500 calories. Very few people actually have an idea of how much calories are in food.
If you only ate one Tina's frozen burrito and a Cup of Noodles for the whole day, that's 636 calories. Think of how hungry you'd be.
You'd be better off figuring out what you're going to do for money for rent, food, utilities and clothes for your kids.

I think you need to talk to a professional or at least a real person, not Yahoo! Answers.. Starving yourself will not help you or your children. But to answer your question, 500 calories a day is less than concentration camp levels. 800 a day is VERY unhealthy, but I think that's what they calculated they could keep people alive the longest for the cheapest. I would be thinking more in the 1200 - 1400 range given that you have kids and need to be alive for them.

you wont be able to lose a lot of weight that way....stress usually causes your body to store fat instead of getting rid of it.
