Lat gal is wrong in Mexico Halloween and Dia de los Muertos are 2 different things, Dia de los Muertos is an ancient Indian custom taken over by the Mexican catholic church while Halloween is not a day to observe it is just an excuse to party for the children and it is not celebrated in most parts of Mexico, in fact there is a movement calling to stop Halloween celebration altogether since it is not a Mexican tradition but an American one that has nothing to do with Mexican heritage, during Dia de los Muertos people build a make shift altar where they bring their loved ones offerings remembering their life and some treats and dishes they enjoyed while living and also pray for their eternal rest.

Día de los muertos means "Day of the Deads", which is applied to Halloween but only in Mexico.

Día de los muertos/Day of the deads in the rest of Latin America is the day when families and friends remember their beloved dead ones.

Halloween is Halloween in almost every country in LAmerica, but it's also known as Día/Noche de Brujas= Day/Night of the witches.
