I am meeting this guy for the first time, its not really a date but more of a aquantence to see how we get along. To know of we could be b/f g/f. My question is we are meeting in a public place at a coffee shop and walk the town get to know eachother. I am going to see him from 12 in the afternoon to maybe four. My question is how long do you think I should make the day to get to know him, before we start dating. Is 12 to four p.m. to long or to short?
By the way we are both 25.

Well that just depends on how it goes, i know you would hate to be with him from 12 to 4 if he acts like a complete ***, so it just depends on how it goes

Tell you what I would do if I met a girl for the first time to casually do anything that might become something.
I'd get a buddy to call me at 1pm and at 2pm. Why? Because, if it's going bad and your buddy calls you at 1:00, you can act all surprised and shocked, say it's an emergency, and slip away without hurting the person too much. If it's going well and your buddy calls the second time you can act like you're canceling something on someone at 4:00 and can have more time for her if she has the time.
Why all the trouble? Because if you're with a person you like, 4 hrs is too short, but if they are someone you don't like, that hour that you waited for your buddies' call seems like a year.

You should know within the first six minutes if you have any chemistry or not. Sometimes chemistry takes longer and sometimes instant chemistry is not good.
The time is to explore each others thoughts, feelings and past experiences to see if there is common ground to build a relationship on. And if you can last the four hours - at the end of it; if you feel you wanted more - that's good; if you it was too much - then maybe that's bad.

TRUST ME you'll know, If its going well you'll wonder how the time went by so fast or if its bad it will seem to drag on forever just keep smiling and go with the flow and first dates or (none-dates) start off a little awkward for you both "you know "not knowing what to say and do for a while" and remember men try too hard sometimes especially when they like you a lot so be patient and feel each other out
good luck

Depends on the chemistry that presents itself...I wouldn't commit to 4 hours. But leave 4 or 5 hours open in case the guy is somebody you want to know better. In the past when I have set these type of meetings up. I ususally know in the 1st few minutes how its going to go...4 hours would be along time with somebody that you don't really want to be around.

4 hours could be a long time....unless you are really getting along! Then it could go by really quickly..I would just meet him at noon and not make any plans of when to end it..just play it by ear ya know? Good luck ;)

You will need more time than that. Just relax and don't think about dating. Enjoy your conversation and the time spent together and then if that goes well, make another coffee date.

Sweety, It takes life time to know a person. Don't worry about how much time it takes, if you don't like him you will end it up in 15 minutes, but if you do like him you still can have another aquaintance.
Why are you worried so much?

Take your time no need to jump into anything. You may be more appealing if you sleep on it.
Good luck!
