When they start preaching that hell crap to my kid I get really angry and let them know. Usually the ones that are NOT CRAZY keep them in line though, so I say live and let live, just don't mess with my kid, or the laws.

What are the "treats" of hell?

Chocolate chip cookies?

EDIT: Darn, I was hoping for some cookies.
Oh, no, the threats don't bother me. After all, if they are right (and they believe they are) they are doing the only humane and caring thing - warning us of danger. What I feel sorry for is that they put so little thought in to HOW they know what they claim to know.

With all of the people out there these days believing in astrology, ghosts, extraterrestrials visiting the earth, and these religious people. It makes me really worry about the education system in the US and how credulous we are as a nation.

Atheists have ethics; faith has morals. The qualitative distinction is that atheists can eat beef. it is unlike being atheist potential you're left with genuinely no clue as to what's top and incorrect. you nevertheless understand approximately honor, self-discipline, valor, braveness, loyalty, and all of the different virtues that have been touted throughout the time of background. you nevertheless experience undesirable approximately it in case you lie, cheat, thieve, and so on. those values have been formatively instilled into the moral element of your recommendations with the help of your mom and father, ultimately stated as the experience of right and incorrect. (apparently sufficient, the experience of right and incorrect bodily overlaps with what they're calling the "God" element of the recommendations, that's why we equate deity and morality so often. I propose, think of approximately it for a minute -- one would not inevitably translate to the different. Why ought to the being who created the universe be indignant in case you assert an rude be conscious once you stub your toe?) Get sufficient mom and father jointly, and you will have a society, which writes rules; and so, there is an entire rule-set to maintain on with no count if or no longer there are any religions to maintain on with. Societies that have desperate that homicide and pillage are the order of the day... frequently do no longer create very many generations of mom and father. So, have self belief it or no longer, atheists are in basic terms as virtuous (or unethical) as absolutely everyone else. It relies upon on our society, our mom and father, and how many ethical/ethical subjects we bump headfirst into. (the topics replace with each era, of path.) This all sounds very piecemeal, yet in actuality, it is a *alleviation* to be an atheist, take actuality because it comes - in a functional style -- and permit something of the international to argue over unimportant issues like the moral thank you to eat an egg.

Threats of Hell are counterproductive, at least according to the Christian mythology. If a person believes not because they love God but merely because they fear death, they don't really deserve heaven. The person isn't really saved. Their belief is false and they will go to Hell.

I usually feel a mixture of both fury and pity. It angers me that people can espouse such hateful beliefs and it also saddens me to know that they were probably indoctrinated into this cult of fear from birth.

I don't care about threats of hell. All I care about is when these delusional people in the U.S. band together enough to distort politics and the interpretation of the 1st ammendment guarantees for freedom from religion.

Mainly I just think it is sad that they are so brainwashed that they cannot form a free thought for themselves. Everything they say has to reference some scripture rather than an original thought or question, but sheep need to be lead. The world was built by free thinkers.

I consider myself spiritual. I already believe in God.
Trying to convert me would be hopeless, because I think on my own, and don't believe everything I read.
To me, living with God in my heart is about being a good, loving and honest person.... and not pushing my beliefs on others.
I don't get angry, but it is sad how closed-minded some people can be.

They are also misinterpreting what Jesus wanted them to do.... to teach His way... NOT through (often angry) words, but through example: be a loving, caring and compassionate person; don't lie, steal, cheat or kill.... others will follow. :)
Anger only breeds more anger, but love breeds love.

I just let it roll off me.
I don't believe in hell & so I dont worry about it.
I do believe in God & believe that being a good person is important. If these people spent more time worrying about themselves & helping others, volunteering, etc they would have less time to worry about other people's souls.

Don't get angry, be compassionate for them.

Sorry we don't use threats of hell, the Bible does. We just teach the Bible.
You say you are non religious, but you said "I believe"! That's religion, it is just that you believe in you, that is the religion of humanism, which is the most intolerant of all religions. Read the humanist mansfesto, it tolerates no one except those who believe in humanism.

Goddess bless them all, with their treats, threats and vaguely sinister belief in a god who's just looking for an excuse to condemn them to eternal somethingawful.
