Brent ~
In my opinion, both these Middleweights were great, obviously two different eras in boxing. I would have to go with Monzon. Monzon hit the harder of the two. Gene would walk in with his hands held high and Monzon would tear up his body with hooks right underneath Fullmers right elbow and after about six rounds of this Monzon would go upstairs.
Gene was as tough as they came, but he got hit a lot. He would swell up when caught with clean shots and this would be a problem with the accurate, sharp puncher that Monzon was. I don't think that Monzon would be able to stop Gene, but I think the beating would be enough that Gene wouldn't seek a rematch.
Carlos Monzon 15 round unanimous decision.

Brent this would be a very entertaining fight. Fullmer was tough as nails and strong as a bull and gave the great Sugar Ray Robinson some of his toughest fights. Monzon was an excellent boxer with a sledgehammer right hand. Both fighters were known for durability and strong chins so I believe in this match that Monzon would dictate the pace with his jab and counter right hands against the rushes of Fullmer who would also land effecdtively to the body. In the end I see Monzon the winner by unanimous decision. Good question sir!
