You don't avoid Church because there's sinners in it, why avoid Halloween for the same reason.
Nothing about Halloween is anti-Christian, so why not. There is no biblical reference to it being the Devil's birthday, and definitely nothing in the holiday that addresses it. It's just silly rumor, with no religious basis.
Celebrating the dead is not anti-Christian. Christ died, and Christians celebrate him. I see more depictions of a dead/dying Christ on the cross than I do of a living Christ. And many Christians pray to Mary, or the saints. Who do you think they're praying to, if not their souls. They're praying to people that are not alive, yet they think that their prayers are heard. Halloween celebrates the souls of the dead too. No conflict there.
Dressing up certainly has no conflict with Christian faith. In the middle ages, Christians had costume parties for Christmas, and Mardi Gras has Christian roots. So the only concern is the selection of some of the costumes. So, don't wear a costume you don't like.
Halloween provides an opprtunity for kids to know their neighbors. Carving pumpkins is innocent fun, and eating candy is, well, eating candy. Go out, enjoy the family-friendly night, break bread with neighbors (or at least share candy), and have a good time.

Sure, my church use to have Halloween parties when I was a kid. no where is it written that it's the devils birthday.... superstition.
All Hallow's Eve is the night before the day of the dead, when a lot of Catholics ( Hispanics mostly) honor dead ancestors. That's how it started.
Now it's just people going around in costume in an old tradition of dressing up to scare away demons that they thought came out the night before the day of the dead....
I personally don't believe demons come out on Oct 31st, but love to dress up & hand out candy to little kids.
Go for it.

I think Halloween as currently done is a secular event, so sure why not let the kids have their fun.

I'm no Christian, but surely if you god had a problem with attempting to scare the wits out of each other for one day it would be mentioned somewhere? I'm an atheist myself, but even my pagan friends think it's just for kicks, so where's the harm?
