Let me describe this fight in one word "WAR", this however would be the downfall for Gatti. Lockridge was a better boxer than Gatti and much better defensively. Remember, Gatti's recent resurrection is very much a product of his switch to trainer and former great Buddy McGirt.

But, Gatti is alot like Evander Holyfield, they get clocked a few times and "bamm" outcomes the "Warrior" and the rest of the way you could put the two fighters in a phone booth, all toe to toe. I strongly believe that Gatti's propensity to cut and swell would cause a big problem. This fight would end in a mid to early late rd. stoppage, TKO Lockridge.

But, permit me to quote the great Emanuele Steward and say "I love Arturo Gatti Fights!!" during his loss to Baldomir.

Brent ~
In my opinion, nobody had better recuperative powers than a young Gatti did, but Rocky was just a bit too much for Gatti. This would be a war for 8 rounds before the referee would stop the bout due to severe swelling and bleeding from Gatti.
Rocky Lockridge had all the tools necessary to counter anything Gatti did. He would be able to absorb Gatti's hellacious body shots particularly the left hook to the body with no problem at all. Rocky's crisper cleaner punches would be the big difference in this bout. Rocky would double the left hook to the body and head and come right back over the top with a right hand.
Gatti was too much of brawler for his own good, this is evident from the way his facial features have changed over the years and this would cause him serious problems against a young in his prime Lockridge who could always box as well as punch. Gatti in his prime was as flat footed as they came, he didn't start to box until after he hooked up with Buddy.
Thanks for the good match up Brent.

Good question Brent and a great matchup! I believe that Lockridge had better overall ring skills and not as prone to cut as the very tough Gatti. This would be a toe to toe war with some very hard punches thrown by both men. I believe that due to cuts and a swollen eye the referee is forced to intervene and halt the contest in the 11th round with Lockridge the winner by TKO.

The weight difference is way to extreme, Mike has every advantage there is. It would end in a matter of how fast Gatti will hit the canvas. But to answer your question Mike within seconds in the first round.

This happen about more than a week ago. If some is casting aspersions (it has always been easy for me tell when someone is talking about me) then be man enough to say my name.

Gatti - W 40 (KO's 31) TF 48 - W pct 83% - KO pct 65% - wins over T. Patterson{2} and M. Ward[2] - KO'ed by De La Hoya and F. Mayweather

Lockridge - W 44 (KO's 35) TF 53 - W pct 83% - KO pct 66% - wins over Boza-Edwards and R. Mayweather - KO'ed by J. La Porte

Gatti is cut prone (a bleeder). I see Lockridge winning on cuts in rd 12 by a TKO.
