I believe in God...in Christ eventhough I don't belong to any particular church.. I pray to him... I am curious as to why people decide to become followers of the dark side.....

Interesting..... Well I see your point... about happiness is happiness no matter how you obtain it but the idea of blaspheming all that is Christian with such madness cannot possibly make you happy. You must be unhappy to wish something hateful against another group..

Satanism is not "Evil" well yeah the name conjures images of ritual rapes and sacrafices. But Satanism is really about the left, the left handed path realy is broadening one's mind and being. Satanists does not believe in a heaven or a hell it is what you do here. Satanists crave power and performs rites and ritual to obtain power. Revenge is also importants Satanists believe that if some one has wronged you, you can and must take revenge upon that person.

Satanists believe that the other religions (Judaism, Christianity Buddism) are the right handed path or have a "herd" mentality. Can't think for ourselves or have to folow a guide book for life. Satanist believe that Man must write their own guide book for life. Not exactly something I agree in. After all what is evil, can it be defined? and can good be defined? If good and evil is defined how do you define the Void which is Good and Evil, Light and Dark, Everywhere and Nowhere?

This question is rather ridiculous. Just because someone is not a Christian does not mean they "follow the dark side", whatever that is supposed to mean!
Your lack of education in matters of religion and spirituality shines through by assuming that if one is non-Christian they are worshiping Satan.
There are many people that honor good Gods although perhaps not a Christian deity. There are many good people that choose not to follow any specific religious path. There are many good people that simply do not believe.

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

most that would call themselves Satanist, do not believe in a god or a devil. satan is a metaphor for the dark side of nature.

i believe in many gods and am a Celtic Pagan, i choose Celtic Paganism because it is my ancestors came from Celtic Pagans, and Native Americans. and because most Pagan religions are truly religions of peace.

most Christians view anything that is not christian as evil. some do not so it is hard for me to know if you consider folks like myself in with your generalization of Satan worshipers.

I don't know anyone that actually worships the deity 'Satan'. Anyone evil enough to do that is probably smart enough to know he doesn't exist, and would use God as a means to his end.

Satanists do NOT believe in Satan.

Satan is a symbol of intellectual liberation. He is/was created by human beings just like your god. He is not evil but rather he represents a celebration of all that is human.

Because they believe they are abondoned by God. And in religion, if God seems to be against you, where else do you turn? I don't follow the devil or God, however all people are trying to find purpose in their life, and if worshiping the devil allows people to find happiness somehow, then i'm all for it.
Happiness=less pain and suffering=no war=love, no matter how this is achieved, happiness is happiness.

I am still wondering why people become followers of anything they can not see nor taste nor smell nor touch nor prove. So I don't follow anything that is not real.Including this fictional Satan character.
