I cannot criticize a man who serves when I have not. If you really believe in the military then stay and get the job done.

And I am going in August. So what? This is what I signed up for. My folks aren't too keen on it, but hey, there is no conscription in Canada, only an all volunteer force.
I don't know about you, but I joined pretty young. My whole adult life, I've been a soldier. Six and a half years now I've been dedicating to the Canadian Forces. Six and a half years of preparing myself for the time something like this would come up. No, I'm not a clerk or a cook or a supply tech. I am an electronic warfare specialist. 291'er to you, or Rubberhead, or Secret Squirrel, as we are known.
Am I worried, or even afraid by the prospect of being in Afghanistan and getting shot at or blown up or worse, taken alive? Yes. Fear is healthy in a soldier. Makes your training kick in with a vengeance, take my word for it. But I, like you, put my name along the dotted line. Signing my life away, as the slang goes. Well, I did just that. I am committed to the service until at the very least 2020, and I'm planning to make those years count.
If you want to quit because you don't have what it takes to be a soldier, to make the sacrifices adn take the risks that you willingly accepted when you put up your right hand and swore your oath, then don't sign back up. I certainly don't want someone who'll chicken out the minute things turn ugly and a soldier has to do a soldier's job in my Canadian Forces. Our job isn't just look pretty in blue helmets or digging Toronto out of a snowbank. We are soldiers, not general labourers or cops. And soldiers go face the dangers that no one else can or will.
If you want to chicked out, be my guest, just don't come crawling back to the Recruiting Center once you'll be sick and tired of civilian life or you think the coast is clear in Afghanistan and that you won't have to risk your little life away. Trust me, your instructors and co-workers will know when you come back, and just like me, they won't even have the time of day for you.

I don't think its a good thing our military is stunted enough with out you leaving. I don't think its fair that you stayed in long enough to get the perks of being in the military (few that they are) and then as soon as they decide to utilize the training they gave you, you take a hike.
When you joined you knew that you could be shipped out at any time even though you may not agree with why your going. If you quit now I think that would be very selfish and cowardly
I will be joining the military myself when I'm finished my undergrad and I KNOW the risks

Sorry to hear it!! About 50 years ago I had a Sgt. who made the observation that Canadians seemed like Americans with all the faults removed. (Most of us agreed.) With all the crap that's going on in the world right now, we can use all the help we can get. But I'm sure you've got your own reasons. Let your conscience be your guide!!

I have been around the military environment for quite some time now and to be really honest, ALOT join, especially women, because they want to get a good education and have a career. Somewhere in their mind, they don't think about getting deployed, but that goes with it, too. This is terrible to say, and maybe I shouldn't, but alot "try" to get pregnant if they know they're going to be deployed; I've seen it, I've heard it. Really pathetic.

I guess you only want to be in the military when no one is going to be shooting at you.
You are a fair weather soldier. You should take up flower arranging or something safe like that (Watch out for the thorns on the roses. Maybe you could have someone else remove those because that would be the dangerous part.).

I just depends on if you will be able to face yourself or not. As a Vet and being retired. I had to make several decisions and to reenlist was one of the "biggies". A soldier, sailor, airman, marine or coast guardsman face many battles and the hardest one is that of "what you believe". If you believe you are getting out for the fact that you don't want to face your future assignment. That is a choice that you and only you will be able to make. Why? Because you will have to face yourself and you will know if you did right. As for me, I was a 3rd generation military man. I did my part because others did theirs. Now you take it from there.

I would hope that the Canadian Forces have the wisdom to turn you down if you decide to re-muster.

You Sir are a COWARD. Shame on you, how would you take an oath to serve and protect your country and then abandon them in thier time on need. I shall say it again, you sir are a COWARD.
If corpses could move the Canadian veterans would turn over in thier grave because of people like you.

Obviously you knew that this was a chance when you enlisted. In my book you are a COWARD not to go and serve your country. Don't bother re-mustering we don't want or need you and your cowardly ways. Go crawl back in the hole you came from!
