He really should consult a good immigration lawyer for help finding grounds to apply for legal status.

In the meantime, however, he should know that any immigration violations committed while under the age of 18 do not count: the law presumes that kids are not responsible for such crimes. As soon as he turns 18, though, his time in the US illegally WILL start to count against him, and could result in an ineligibility. He really should go to a good lawyer immediately.

"(I) Minors.-No period of time in which an alien is under 18 years of age shall be taken into account in determining the period of unlawful presence in the United States ... "

He should have already talked to an immigration attorney and had procedures already going to get citizenship. I work with a guy who came here with his parents when he was two years old. They came legally but he had to get naturalized. It has been 17 years and he is about to become a citizen. It takes a long time and anyone should start ASAP.

BTW, he is against illegal entry. HE had to do it the right way. He says everyone else should, too. Amnesty is NOT fair!!

tell him to go back and fight for his country, he's still an illegal and this ain't his country!!!
