Hey! Listen up, Marie is wrong.......... He does not have the right to be there. If you are buying the home, and the mortgage is in your name, or you are renting and you are the only one on that lease, then get his sorry self out of there. If the only thing his name is on is the cable, then call the cable company have it changed to your name, you're paying it anyway. He probably agreed to the cable bill just so he could watch sports. I would suggest you call the local police or county sheriffs dept, and have an officer there with you, when you tell him to leave. Any thing it takes just get rid of him, he's a loser. Actually it sounds like this fellow is a moocher. He has the best of both worlds, you are paying all the bills, and he is being "Mr Big Time Man" with the ladies on the chat lines. So what on earth is he good for? He's a parasite. Oh by the way, change the phone over also.

Good Luck
Texas girl

First be sweet about trying to get him to change the bills in your names. You do this by telling him that you can't pay the bills and if it gets cut off that its gonna go on his credit. But you need to change these things or don't pay them. They are in his name and when he leaves then you can put them in your name. Second you need to find a legal aids office and ask for advice. It's free. Its actually hard to kick someone out of an apt. if they have been there longer than a month. Its probably different in a house. Another thing you could do when hes not there pack his stuff in a bag put it out on the curb. Now, you can only do this if you have told him you want him to leave. You have to also give a person a 30 day notice to kick someone out legally. After setting his clothes out have someone ready to change the locks.

If you to weren't getting married after a year or so then he never should have moved in. Call a lawyer and he will give you some advice. If he has keys, then take them away. If he tries to come back then call the police. First, get the cable bill and everything else in you name. He doesn't have a right and he sounds like a loser anyway. Get rid of him.

You don't have to worry about any legalities. Legally you can throw him out at any time. Here is how you do it. 1. Wait till he is gone for a period of time (like at work). 2. Change ALL of the locks. 3. Remove all of his stuff and put it in the garage. 4. Send him a text message or leave him a voicemail saying his stuff is in the garage and you are throwing him out. 5. Disappear for a day or weekend where he won't find you and don't answer your cell phone (just turn it off). 7. When you go back go back with a big strong male friend just in case.

If his name is not on the lease or mortgage you have every right to kick him out just call the cable company and the home phone company and get them put in your name if you are paying them it should be no problem. Just say leave if he doesn't call the police he has no leg to stand on.
Good luck and enjoy a life without a free loader!

Unfortunately, he has a right to live there since he has been with you for a year. I know it is not right, but that is usually how it works. If he is giving you a hard time, like if he is threatening you or annoying you, you could go get an Order of Protection and that may be a way for you to get him out of your house. I am sure there are other ways too, but I know an Order of Protection could help to, especially if he is being threatening or annoying.

You have the right to kick anyone out of your house that does not belong there. You can call the police and either he leaves or he will go to jail. You can then get a restraining order on him and that will keep him out.

Take care,
Troy
