Switched from baptist/evangelical christian to LDS because the LDS religion makes more to me sense than evangilical. However, in my studies, there arose different questions that I could not find answers to. Plus, I live in Utah, and being a convert instead of born and raised mormon is a point against you.
Now, I am agnostic. I think there might be a god, but I think that religions are definitely man-made. Many of them contain truths, but there are many falsehoods that I cannot pretend to accept.

Well, I was raised Lutheran from pretty much birth and while atheism isn't exactly a religion as it's a lack of belief in God, but that's what I switched to.
Why, well, there were a lot of reasons I've stated repeatedly across the YA boards for questions like this, but in a nutshell without getting too involved...
1. Hypocrisy within the church, both believers and preachers.
2. Contradictions within the Bible.
3. Emotional and mental abuse from my family who used religion and their beliefs to do it with. For a quick example, my own grandmother at the age of six(yup, you heard me, SIX) after I came home crying from being bullied at school that I had a miserable life and always would because it was God's plan for me. Lots of crap like that has been said and done to me, so it's not me being upset for being told I was going to Hell. It was seriously damaging stuff that I have indeed been in therapy for.
4. Logic. Many things in the Bible didn't mesh with what logic told me, so I figured; "If it doesn't make sense, it ain't true."

I can't say I switched religions, but I chose spirituality over religion. There were just too many things I didn't agree with, plus they taught me that God is everywhere, knows, sees and hears everything, and my heart is His home. From that point on, I decided to have a more personal relationship with Him, instead of using a priest as a medium.

I was raised Catholic, in High School I saw the Campus Christian Fellowship to be preaching the word of God but found their actions so hypocritical and sickening I distanced my self from them. At the time I also started reading many different text about religion. It was also the time I found my birth father and discovered my true Herriatage and Shinto. Shinto explained manything that Christianity and debunked many Christian myths through the taos. So I am now a Recovering Catholic, Practicing Shinto

I have been many religions cathlic anglican mormon seventh day adventist and many more, basicly its a search for the truth. I have researched the bible fully ( I should mention I am pritty old now) but in my searches the bible fails on many grounds the old testement can be traced through archioligy names places and dates match however the new testement dose not I have seen the court transcipts of herod and pontius pilot niether mention a jesus character if you dont believe me look for yourself. I do believe however that the concept of religion is meant as a way of life meaning we are to go through life in such a way that we harm no others and that we help others if we can organised religion however is a muti million dollar buisness with benifits such as no taxes with all the millions all the churches have they could end world hunger if they wished to but alas that aint gunna happen

I switched within Christian denominations many times. I discovered that Presbyterians are schooled on the Bible, Baptists have a personal relationship with God down, Methodists are hard workers for God and Charismatics are the babies with the power tools. They all have the good and bad points. I choose non-denomination now.

I was raised as an Anglican, then switched to Pentecostal, then Baptist, then after 8 years of the last two, I decided I had had enough. Now, I am atheist -- and quite happily so.

I think I've told this story a dozen times here already. But here goes again...
I was raised Catholic. But some priest called me a witch and said I didn't belong in "his" church.
So I left the church and took up witchcraft. I never called it "wicca" because wasn't called "wicca" 20 years ago when I tried it.
But that just seemed like a bunch of silly folk using a made up faith to justify their being slightly left of center. For all that they claimed to be "nature centered" not a one of them felt like doing a thing to help destruction of the environment. And I got tired of them whispering behind my back. They'd light their candles and burn their incense but my "magic" really worked... or so they'd say. They liked my abilities but would quickly point fingers about my christian upbringing when I'd bring up demons around "the circle."
It got old really fast. So I left that too.
I have always been naturally contemplative. I met some Buddhists. I took up with them. They taught me to pray. Prayer in my childhood had always been as penance. Never for joy. The Buddhists helped me. After a time they began to nudge me towards the prayers of my childhood.
I began to pray the Rosary again. Then God sent a saint to call me home.
I rejoined my church and began reading about said saint. He was a man of many gifts. I found my gifts are biblical. Not witchcraft. I DO belong in the church!
Now I'm a TOTAL Jesus Freak.

I was raised a Methodist but now I do not belong to any organized religion. I just can't buy the dogma.
