I have had a horrible cold since tuesday. I have been to the doctor and was told I have an ear infection in both ears. Yay, right? anyway, it has gotten progressively worse .. my right ear especially. Everything sounds like I am underwater. There is a lump behind both ears. I have a prescription for ear drops that I got today but is there anything else I can do to help ease the pain? I am having trouble sleeping at night because of it .. Thanks.

You want moist heat for your ears. Sounds weird but get an old tube sock and put rice it in. (Not the quick cooking stuff) Tie a knot in the end of the sock and then microwave it for up to 2 mins. Wrap that in a towel so you don't burn yourself and put that over your ears. (A whole bag of rice will fill up a sock and be big enough to wrap around the back of your head)

This is a remedy that I've used for years instead of a heating pad. It's safer than a heating pad.

what variety of discomfort is it? is it rigidity geared up up or loss of or what? is it perchance water that have been given into your ear (perchance from bathe)and is now trapped? I do have some achievable remedies, yet each and each is for a various variety of ear project. Yeah I could accept as true with zach, if it quite is that deep it in all risk is an infection and you like some antibiotics. Or in case you are able to not goto the medical institution the very least you may do is positioned the two some alcohol or some drops of warmth vegitable/mineral oil. shop that ear pointed in direction of the ceiling for approximately 5 minutes or longer and once you sense slightly greater suitable or have been in that place for a while then enable it drain onto a towel on an identical time as you lie with that ear down for at laest ten minutes. it is generally for greater minor courtroom circumstances, yet can help open you ear canals. you will nevertheless have the an infection to combat off nevertheless.

Use the ear drops they are for pain also. One of the best things my grandmom used to do for bad ear aches is put a piece of cotton in each ear. That way the air/wind/cold air will not disturb the ear drum where the ear infection is. Try it! It really works!

I take a sock and put a cup of dry rice in it, bind it closed and toss it in the microwave for a minute. The rice stays warm for quite a long time and it will conform to your ear.
