For example;
I was in a coffee shop this morning and could not help overhearing a fellow in a cheap blue suit, early middle age, trying to put the moves on a waitress that was probably all of 18 years old. He kept trying to get her telephone number, and was a very persuasive talker, sleazy salesman type. When she was refilling my coffee cup I gave her a note with a phone number to give him, the business number for the Police Dept. Was I wrong to do that? I think all young people should have the number for their local department memorized for use if awkward situations like that.

In fairness to some of the people answering note that it took 8 minutes to add additional detail due to an interruption, and some answered prior to that being posted.

You people are idiots.
when did the questioner lie in this experience?
there were no lies. forget about bible verbatim and look at the situation.
I think she did a good thing, she took the guys unwanted and intimidating advances away and gave the waitress the space and freedom from harassment she deserved.
geez, must be hard being so righteous

I tell lies to cover my lies that covered the first lie, and then I have to tell the fifth lie and then I get confused and almost tell the truth, but as an expert lier, I opt for another lie. Of course lying is wrong, that is why it is fun. LOL Oh, here is the kicker, Bill Clinton Lied Under Oath while serving as President and got acquitted and then got 8 million dollars for a book. So - is it wrong to lie or is it a profitable thing or what.

Your actions help create the world you're living in... do you want to live in a world with as many lies as possible, or as much truth as possible? You may not be able to control what other people are doing around you, but that makes controlling what YOU do all the more important!

Two wrongs doesn't make it right.
You can lecture the waitress and teach her the sense of caution. That may save her from any more other. Let her to decide what to do.

Tell the truth, but not the whole truth, and be sure to exaggerate. I use this strategy even when talking to honest people.

I think that it is very commendable that you wanted and did help that woman. (Also very clever.) However, that was not the right way to do it. Your heart is definately in the right place and you will eventually figure out your correct path. (You are not that far off now.)

It's wrong to lie. Period.
Two wrongs don't make a right. If you know the person is lying, confront him.
