No, they are human too. Just becuz they have a disability, doesnt mean you should avoid them. Thats sad.
I think it shows that you are a good person to treat them as an equal. They already go thru enough hell, and here ppl avoid them too. I feel bad for ppl that have these disabilities.

OMG so odd you asked this. I encountered someone today with a crossed eye. I didnt know which eye I should look at when I talked to him. It was a work situation so I couldnt avoid him. I just sort of kept busy with shuffling papers and looking at other stuff while we talked. Maybe someone with a lazy or crossed eye could help us out.....Which eye DO we talk to?
Great question!

It's one of those situations where it's better to be upfront than evasive. Just tell them, "I'm a compulsive eye contact person. Where would you prefer that I look?" It's unlikely that they're unaware that they have a problem. And it's certainly better than going cross-eyed yourself in empathy, in the sameway that you can start speaking in an accented voice when you're talking to someone with a strong accent.

No. I focus on the eye that seems to be looking at me. If you had a problem like that and people avoided you because of it, how would you feel?

What kind of question is this? I find it to be completely insulting. It shows your lack of compassion or consideration. Do you judge everyone by their physical flaws. Maybe you should take a look in the mirror,,you may have some of your own that you are not even aware of.

No, I don't avoid talking to them, but I do sometimes find my self fixating on the eye(s). I don't think it's any different than a person that has a big mole or a scar...once you get used to it, it's no big deal.

Well, I should hope not, since my partner has one . . . .
If this is someone you know, eventually you get used to looking at the "good" eye.
If this is someone you not know, look at the space between their eyes. Then you will be polite, and they probably will not know the difference.
