I was told that if you ran cheap vodka through a Brita water filter (the pitcher style one) one or two times, it comes out tasting more like premium vodka. Is this true? Has anyone ever tried it?

I'm sure that it will filter some impurities out and maybe even to some extent change the flavor, but from that to tasting as a premium vodka I greatly doubt it. Premium vodkas are distilled many times and in various ways to achieve the smooth quality flavor, is not just about household carbon filter.

Actually I heard of that and tried it. My roommates and I had a Brita Vodka dispenser in the freezer...pretty cool. It took the edge off of a bottle of Smirnoff, but nothing to go crazy over. Belvedere or Goose is so much better.

We wanted to see what it would do to CHEAP vodka. We ran a bottle of Gilby's through about 4 times. Still tasted like crap.

It's actually true, but you need to run it through about 3-4 times before the change is noticeable. More than just the flavor, the carbon adsorbs the trace amounts of impurities that tend to give hangovers.
There's even a filter sold for the sole purpose of purifying vodka in this fashion...Gray Kangaroo

Mythbusters tried it... it WILL taste a bit different with each filtering, but will still taste like cheap vodka.

Doesn't work. After a few shots of vodka, cheap or expensive, anything tastes better, anyway.

doesn't work. It's gotta be really really cold. Put it in the freezer, since alc does not freeze, it will be very cold with getting solid.
