Unfortunately it's a problem, love it fried with pepper on toast with loads of butter. Because cod stocks are low apparently we are going to struggle to find cod in the shops soon, haddock and some other more exotic species taking it's place. Hopefully eventually the stocks will rise again to a level when we can once again have it for our tea, breakfast, supper, dinner, quick snack.

Cod stocks are vanishing due to overfishing. As `Roe` is fish eggs from a mature female fish, and the next generation of Cod, it would be no bad thing if Roe was never seen again. Of course fewer Cod are reaching breeding size, and the catching of egg carrying /breeding fish is now avoided.

You can at my chippy, but I hate fresh roe. I like tinned roe with chips and mushy peas.
