I used to belong to the Campanions du Vin du France in Canada, I would have to say one tasting we got to try some really good vintage reds from Burgundy, and the Chateuax Palmer 1960 we had was divine, a few years later when working as a chef for CP Hotels I had the opportunity to taste another Palmer but this time a 1956, talk about an orgasuim in a bottle. There is only one other great red I would like to try before I release this mortal coil and that is if I could find one a Chateaux Lafite-Rothchild 1948, one of the first vintages after the Second World War that was produced from a previously thought to be lost vintage.

For an always reliable yummy glass of Pinot Noir - Ravenswood -pretty much any year...I much prefer white wines to reds, but if I'm drinking a red I know that Ravenswood is a reasonably priced good glass of wine. The Shiraz is pretty good too.

My favorite red wine is Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.....any year. This winery specializes and only produces Cabernet. It's consistently one of the best Cabs you can find.

I do know that it was a 1978. It was a Bordeaux. Maybe St. Emillion? Something like that. Or Chateau something. Trust me, it's been a long time. Reason I can't remember? I had two glasses and it knocked me into a whole 'nother dimension.
