IMHO as a teacher of 20+ years, it's a combination of sloppy teaching and even sloppier studying. Teachers get really low salaries for doing a job that needs to at least start at home (add sloppy parenting to the list); they work long hours in terrible conditions trying to help younger folks learn at least the basic skills they need to enter the work force. And the students? I've met more than a few who need some serious attitude adjustments and a reality check or two. Before I was a teacher, I was a business manager. Finding qualified applicants for most jobs was a nightmare. Listen, I remember what it was like in junior & senior high - not a lot of fun if you were serious about learning anything. Pimples, dates, weekend cash, (no) wheels ... yeah, yeah. Whatever. Get over it! Learn the basics, then come talk to me about a Revolution!

Pehaps peple knw how to spel, but choose not to do so.
I think it is the internet way. By the way I know I spelled the above words wrong. I was teaseing you.
Good spelling and grammer is all about practice. I am not the best speller but I learn as I go. The structure of the sentance is long gone for me because I have not practiced what I learned many years ago.

What if we are seeing the development of a WYSIWYG form of English spelling, generated by the people, for the people, rather than imposed on them by prescriptivist grammarians. After all, these spellings more accurately reflect the spoken language than does our current system. We could be watching the birth of a revolution.

It's annoying, I know. But people think it's easier to type like that and think it supposedly looks 'cooler'. Sometimes it's faster to type acronyms (brb, lol, etc.), but I don't think they should use bad grammar + spelling. I use it sometimes, but just when I feel too lazy.
