Apples come in all shades of reds, greens and yellows.

The five most popular apples in the United States are Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Gala, Fuji and Granny Smith.

The first trees to produce sweet, flavourful apples similar to those we enjoy today, were located many thousands of years ago near the modern city of Alma-Ata, Kazakhstan.

The apple when its growing must have a particular chromosome that makes the skin of the apple red. Not sure though.

Actually, they are not red. Red apples are every other color BUT red. The skin of the apple absorbs the other colors of the spectrum, and only reflects the color red that we see. If you really want to eat a red apple, you'll have to eat a green apple instead - but then, of course, you'll be eating an apple that is really red, brown, blue, purple, aqua marine, cyan, fuchsia, puce, etc. etc. etc...

They are actually pink but the human eye is only able to process certain zygotes of light refraction past a certain molecular halflife.

If you take an apple into a BioDome, where the light is purely incandescent, you will see that all apples are pink.
