the front differential vent sudenly started leaking dif. oil is this a known problem on 2003 GMC2500HD4x4 ? if so what should i do to fix the problem??

Most likely it's overfull, when you drive the fluid gets hot and expands and becomes thinner (diff fluid like engine oil thins out when hot and thicker when cold). Shouldn't be building up psi (pressure) that's why there is a vent! Also you may try rerouting the vent, as you drive you can cause a venturi effect and fluid can be drawn out of the vent (will happen more at hwy speeds)

check your fluid if it is over full that took care of the problem but if it is low you could have a bearing going out of the diff and it is over heating the oil and it is building up to much presser. another thing you can do is drive the truck and get out and see how hot the diff is if it is so hot you have got internal problem. if it is worm it could be the one way valve on the vent tub is bad.

Most likley it is over filled. and when it builds up psi it over flows.
