waxed paper alone with the oven turned to it's highest
temperature might very well burn. however it is usually
used as a liner in cake pans or on cookie sheets. the
temperature is not at max, the food adds moisture, which
changes the dynamics, and there are no problems.

No wax paper is not designed to be used in a oven. If you need somethig to put in the oven to bake, I use a piece of aluminum foil sprayed with Pam.

not only that but the wax will melt onto your food!!!
