I have had dogs all my life. And the healthiest and best tempered dog is a good old fashioned mutt. Even every Vet i have ever had has said the same.
I have mutts and i have registered pure bred dogs. The best so far have been the mutts. But then i think all of my dogs are great. I have 4 mutts and 1 Maltese, 1 Yorkie , 1 Pit Bull , and 2 Dachshunds ,one is miniature the other full sized. I have had a beagle mix that was my best buddy ever and also a Spitz and several Chihuahuas and a terrier mix. I think any dog can be great if raised right.

I like Dachshund. I have three doxies. They are the greatest dog in the world. Mine are always there when I get home from school and they sit and bark at the bus. They are such small dogs but acted like they are so "BIG". But usally my 2 female doxies Sierra and Annie take control over the three labs. Sierra the oldest has had a batch of puppies and they are so small and cute. They also like to sit on your lap all the time and cuddle with you. But I also like my three labs Sadie Nikki and Sophie. They are alwas there to cheer me up when I am sad. They are alwas ready to play and if you don't want to play they make you want to play and laugh. I just lost one of my labs Sadie when she got hit by my dads car on his way home for work. All the dogs were there to help the family out during our lost. They even slept up stairs with us on Sadie's last night at home. The Dachshund and all Labs are the best breeds you can get.

I love all dogs..Hounds the most..And my Fave is the Mini Dachshund Smooth or long I just love um...
Great Friends, Good sleeping pals & always ready for a walk...
Dachshunds are the way to go! Big home or small flat..they are a great fit...

As far as the perfect family dog you cannot go past the Golden Retriever. They have a fantastic nature and just love people and kids. They can be trained to do amazing things and I have a brother in law who has one that is trained as a Snow Rescue Dog.
