I wish I knew some of you... You really must be quite funny in person.. It says that anyone with a disease or illness such as drugs or alcohol or in my case gambling if you seek help that the army can not leave you behind in simpler terms.... This is a serious problem this is not the average deserter I will go train right now and go to iraq next month if they will let me.. I passes basic in flying colors 11:15 minute two miles 88 pushups and 81 sit-ups on my test... Gambling killed me I need help...

are we involved in aggression? Wouldn't war technically be defined as a situation in which we were attacked by another country (not a small group of terrorists) or a situation in which we had declared war on another country?
It seems to me that the definition of war has relaxed enough to justify any kind of aggression we wish to take in the future. If we decide we don't like something, why not just invade any country and take some "preventative action" to promote our own interests? It's some kind of "fits all" magical pretext. How can any other country in the world respect us or trust us if we continue to act in this way?

It is probably making it worse for you not knowing what will happen if you are apprehended. You should make arrangements to turn yourself in at the nearest military base and get this over with. You would never be allowed back into the military, but at least you can get whatever sentence you get, and quit looking over your shoulder. Wondering if the police will stop you while you are driving for something like not using your turn signal and then discover you are a deserter. Take control of this, as a part of your recovery it is important to take responsibility. Good luck to you, and I hope you can turn your life around and have a better one than you do now.

If you turn yourself in and explain your situation it will be much easier than having them track you down. They WILL track you down eventually. When I was in the Navy, I saw cases where people were gone a couple years and thought that they had "escaped". Usually the military just keeps you away long enough to be able to lay the maximum penalty on you. The they come knocking at your door.

If you turn yourself in, they will still punish you. You will have to face up to whatever the consequences are. But, like I said, they will go WAY easier on you if you come in of your own accord.

I'm not sure that's what you wanted to hear. But, good luck to you all the same. Go in and get it over with soon, so you can move on with your life.

Yeah i would say you are pretty much screwed, we just processed a guy for being AWOL......but he went to war with us.....and they are still pressing the deserter issue......Turn yourself in and do your time! Thats the best thing for you or it will follow you for the rest of your life haunting you! And if you do it on your own they may look at it a little different, seeing as how you made the effort to try to make it right..

your not awol your a deserter and during times of war you can be killed for this. go to the nearest recruiters office and turn yourself in. your excuse will mean nothing to them its lame and a copout at best. be a man and turn yourself in and be prepared to at the very least spend a long time in jail. thanks for making my husbands job harder by abandoning your duties..

Oh, you are going to finish your commitment..........in a military prison! Turn yourself in, throw yourself on the mercy of the court. Your problem is you did this during war time! Consult an attorney that handles military matters.

They do not care why you left, but they care that you left. Turn yourself in & get an easier sentence. The longer you are gone, the tougher they will be. Good luck, you will need it.

You need to turn yourself in to your nearest recruiter and tell them you are an AWOL soldier.
From there, make a plea agreement during your trial. your lawyer will help you with that.
