Iv'e been having panic attacks for 3 weeks now. I went to the Doctor today and he gave me Paxil CR for everyday use and Xanax for when I feel an attack coming on.

I'm scared to take the Xanax so he gave me the lowest dose (0.5mg) and told me to take 1/4 of the pill twice daily as needed.

Has anyone taken these medication? Did they work and how did they make you feel? Did they stop your anxiey or attacks?

yes that combination can be really effective..now get yourself some serious kick *** cardio exercise and breathing exercises like taught in Yoga classes and allow yourself to let go of the behavior patterns that you've been developing...you can get past this...I suffered for three years a long time ago and need no medication today

I take both medications. Why are you afraid to take the Xanax -- .5 mg dose is super low. All it does is take the the off you can cope with the anxiety. Take one when you don't have to go anywhere or do anything, however, I think you will discover the effect are minimal. I take more than that and drive, work, go out, etc. Without the meds I'd be a wreck all the time!

I have taken both for anxiety. Xanex is EXTREMELY addictive, Paxil isn't. I do better on Paxil. Xanex made me feel falsely euphoric at times, and when it started wearing off, i would bottom out. I'd steer clear of Xanex since you have an alternative. If you find the Paxil isn't helping after a couple of weeks, try Effexor or Cymbalta. Drawback of Effexor is that it kills your sex drive.
