Each one is different, no set time, will have to run its course. The warm cloth will help it feel better.

Too long (j/k a couple of days to a week), as someone else already said, it's different for everyone. Don't put anything extra hot near your eye, use warm. Just be sure not to spread it around, whatever you use as a compress, make sure you wash it after wards, some styes are from staph that gets into the eyelash follicle, you don't want to spread it. Oh and don't worry, it's probably a staph that you already had on you, it just got in under your eyelash.

I have had one now for a week. I have kept it clean. Washing my face with Noxima every day and night. I started putting vicks on it 2 days ago. It finally got a head on it last night. So it drained a little. So now it will probably go away in a couple of days.

Mine is under the lid very close to the tear duct. My husband has had me using the compress which feels good and use the tea bag also, which I found uncomfortable. I had to drive to a meeting today. Driving with only one eye open is scary. I have to say I am so glad that I live in the middle of nowhere. Any suggestions for the ones under the lid?

Well it can heal up tomorrow or the day after IF you look for the hair which grows on top of the stye. Pluck it out and let the stye drain out. You'll have relief and possibly heal overnight.

They last as long as they want to stay, unfortunately. I had to get one excised because it wouldn't go away. Instead of a hot rag, try a teabag. They're smaller and work so much better.
