Oh please, you're going to get me started on the police. There isn't enough space here.

W@nkers, they're all w@nkers. Don't these people realise that it's the police commiting most of the crime.

Well, I know it's more fashionable to slag off the police but I prefer to think that maybe the call came out over the radio, as many police are posted in pairs, two pairs put up for the call and both arrived at roughly the same time.

Or how about this, one pair arrived on foot and they had to call up for a van to relay the prisoner to the station.

Sorry to be boring but why else would 4 police arrest one woman?
Also the "serious crime going down".. I'd say theft is a crime that most of society would like to see tackled, wouldn't you?

2 double crewed cars, one to make the arrest and one to take statements and view CCTV ensuring the little darling's stay in the nick isn't too long for her, and ensuring the police spend the minimum amount of time necessary off the street.

Why does it matter? What would you rather they be doing? Don't say chasing murderers or burglars because unlike in story book land, they don't advertise their profession.

because it may not be a young girl shoplifter that they have to deal with. What is reported as a youn girl may really be a big buff human that one security guard can't take out. Or the girl might run, in which case you need 4 to corner her.

Probably to cover one another backs, in the UK's 'blame it on someone else' culture that is being adopted now, it seems that no one is exempt, not even the police.

2 to arrest the young girl. I to do the arrest one to witness the arrest so that the young girl does not wrongly accuse police of harrassment, abuse, etc and sue and sue at tax payers expense. I to inform carer of young girl and one to witness informer of carer so carer can not accuse police of abuse, harresment etc, so carer can not sue police at tax payers expense.

If yje girl did wrong she gets nicked I don't care if 1 or 100 police turned up as long as se realises that she did wrong and can not get away with it.

Tax payers pay for the police but we also pay for the crimes committed because cost of goods/insurance etc increases.

You seem to imply that it is the fault of the police that they need to arrest somebody that is breaking the law. Who do you think actually pays for what people nick? I used to have a small shop and its not funny when people steal from you. Don't feel sorry for criminals!

When you complain about prices at the stores, remember you took the side of the shoplifters.

Im a cop and could answer your question, but really why bother with some of you people. The trolls can have this board.

Once 2 plain clothed police, and half a dozen uniformed turned up to take my brother into custody for "accidentally" pulling over a plastic potted plant in a pub on Boxing Night in Manchester. It seems to me that if you are "known" to the fuzz they will shy away, whereas if you are an unknown face they will wade in with their size 9s as you are (possibly)more easily intimidated and they can have a power rush.

Yeah, they used to give a shoplifter an even break. What's the crime game coming to, anyway? Where are the referees when you need them?
