If they get a lawyer to go to a judge and set them up they do. The courts usually grant them visitation if the parents aren't letting them see their grandchildren, unless you can prove the kids are in danger when they are with them.

I used to live in San Diego. I do not need to know what part of California you are from to inform you that there is free information at the local law library. You can also call your local law school where students studying law will help you with free advise--this is an assigned practice that is part of their studies in order to graduate. You can also google the California State Bar website. They usually have a free family law day. You call in and speak to California lawyers and get free advise. Lastly, you can e-mail womenslaw.org for professional advise; however, I will tell you that most grandparents have right to visitation. If your goal is to keep the child safe from an abusive father, get a restraining order now. It will do you good in court and will set visitation with grandparents accordingly meaning he will not be able to be at his parents house while the child is there. Hope this helps.

yes but- no necesaily bu a judge. You can do that by agreement ony our own if yuo'd like unless they are a threat to the childs' safety and health
