She is an spayed adult and has been marking certain spots on the carpet for years. It's not urine, it's something else. She only marks about a drop or two at a time. Background: She was my only cat until my girlfriend moved in 3 years ago with 2 cats; both femalel one adult spayed and a kitten who spayed later. She did not like these 2 cats then, and she still acts aggressive toward the adult female now. She always marks either in corners or against a wall and has about 6 spots she goes to. This behaviour is on and off and sometimes she'l even do it right in front of us! Can anyone out there help us put a stop to this permanently? We've tried different deterrent sprays, a plugin thingie that emits cat pheremones that's supposed to keep her calm, putting aluminum foil over the spot etc etc ad nauseum. If you've ever experienced this we would greatly appreciate your help :~)

She will cont. to go to these spots if the smell is still there--First off I would consult with your vet to see if something else is going on Such as UTI or something of that nature. Esp if this is something newer that she is doing--IF she has been doing this since the other cats came *on and off* then it is most likely a behavior issue--How many litter boxes do you have in the house--Maybe try cleaning the area that she is marking REALLY well with vinegar and water--Also try a product called Magic Carpet *most vets should carry this* if yours doesnt ask them to get it for you THEY can--it doesn't cost much and MANY of our clients swear by it esp for marking cats--it removes the stain and odor..

I feel your pain. Cats are very sensitive creatures and cannot tell you what's bugging them so they pee. One of my cats started to do this because (we found out later) he was developing a blocked urethra so he was peeing wherever he could. It's more common in males than females though.

Also, we have moved several times over the last 3 years. House cats do not like moving. They also do not like to have "new friends".

Stress is a major pee producer it seems. Even a bladder infection can make them not want to use the litter box b/c they associate the box with pain (since it's painful to urinate w/ a bladder infection or blockage etc).

They're complicated. Take her to the vet to make sure she doesn't have an infection and then once that's ruled out try a pet shrink. Yeah, they have them...probably cost several hundred, but they come to your house to see what could be making kitty upset. It could just boil down to territory protection since your g/f's kitties have "invaded" her previously private space and human.

Sorry for the novel.

Not a cat person but I would say she is marking her territory or letting the other cats know that she is head honcho and they cannot do what she can.

Just being territorial, I bet the other cats know what is going on! As long as they know the deal, that is all that really matters, don't you think?? :)

It seems like territorial marking. However, you may want to take your kitty in to visit your veterinarian and rule out any medical problems. Also, your veterinarian might recommend something else that may help solve the problem.

Maybe you should ask your vet. It seems that you have tried everything that I would suggest. Good Luck!

P.S.-I have two cats and I really want to get a kitten but I'm scared because I don't want to have problems like this.
