Good for your brother-in-law. Now if he would only donate that same amount to charities that help homeless animals. Now, that would really be something..

If i had $45,000 dollars then yes i would.
Unfortunately I do not.
I no longer have a dog either.
When I did i considered my dog (Rebs) to be a very important member of the family and had I lost him would have offered whatever i had as a reward to find him.
So to answer the question if I had it then I would absolutely offer it as a reward.
I'm glad your Brother in law got his dog back.
But on the other hand.
If I were to find a missing dog and return it to its owner i would never be able to accept any reward. i would be content with the knowledge that the dog was back with its loving family.

Sounds a little more like kidnapping a dog and holding it for ransom - just a thought. Just excessive to me.
Most people don't have that kind of money to give to get their pet back - same as most people don't have thousands of dollars to get a loved one back and thats why the police get involved in kidnappings. I know far fetched but as I said... just a thought.
Like someone else said - I wouldn't have accepted that kind of money either - a good deed doesn't need that kind of payment behind it.

maybe but not many people have that much money and some of them might be kids that have lost they dog or people that don't or can't work so before you go on about people being selfish just think about this, if your pet goes missing and you only get 100 dollars a fournight and you have to pay your bills with that plus get food in what would you offer bearing in mind that people don't like it when you don't pay.

Some people think of their dogs as children. Would you pay $45,000 to get your kid back?
I admit though, that amount for a dog is a bit much. I take it he has more money than sense?

If I had that kind of money, I sure would pay it to get my sweet dog back, if lost. But I'm not as lucky as you and your brother.
