It really depends on your insurance wordings. In Manitoba, if you carry $200 or $100 deductible, you do not pay it for theft of the entire vehicle, or attempt thereat. If you have $500 deductible, you will pay it. Contents, like cds, are not covered by your car insurance, they are considered personal property under the terms of you home insurance, and you don't claim for them unless they stole a value at least 50% higher than your deductible.

Count yourself lucky they found your truck. Yes, you will still have to pay your deductible. When you took out insurance, it was your choice to put that much deductible on the policy. They probably have already towed it to keep it safe for you, but they won't fix it unless and until you tell them to. Ask your insurance what you need to do next, don't leave it at the tow lot since there will be a daily storage fee there if you do. Probably the best thing to do would be to get it into a body shop to fix the damage, but again, your insurance agent should be able to tell you what is best. If you find someone to increase the cost by $250 to cover your damages without any out of pocket expense, both of you would be committing fraud.

Yes you have to pay it. Theft is covered under comprehensive on your insurance. If you chose a 250.00 deductible then that means that you agreed to paying 250.00 in case of a comprehensive claim. Comprehensive is basically the part of full coverage that covers things beyond your control (theft, vandalism, acts of nature such as hurricanes floods and tornados) a tree falling on your car etc.... Unfortunatley alot of insurance company dont offer comprehensive coverage without some kind of deductable and it also varies as to what is offered state to state. I used to work for a national major insurance company and I rarely saw a no deductible option. Most of the the time the minimum available was 100.00 but in most cases 250.00. I used to always want to shake the customer who chose 1000.00 in exchange for a cheaper monthly payment and then cried when a claim arose. Kudos to you for chosing 250.00. Good luck. I am really sorry to hear that you have to come up with unexpected money. I know its hard.

You will owe it regardless. That's the deductible you picked. You actually pay that to the shop, not to the insurance, so it's something you'll owe when the vehicle gets fixed. It's not something they work with you on. Sorry, but the idea of having your mechanic up the price won't work because the insurance company is paying off of their estimate, not the shop's. That's a nice suggestion to commit fraud by the way!

Someone broke into my old car years ago. They peeled the door back like it was a tin of tuna and they broke the steering column.

You will have to pay the deductible unless your insurance company is super nice and has a clause about not having to pay one in cases of theft...and insurance companies are not known for being super nice.

Call and ask your insurance company. Hopefully when your truck was stolen you called them immediately. If not then hopefully you have the police report to show them. You probably do have to pay but they may be able to work something out with you on it.
