I took Klonopin for anxiety, and it worked well for me. I have heard that some people have real problems with it. However, I found that the thing that worked the best for me was cognitive/behavioral therapy where you address the anxiety issues that are hardest to conquer, and learn techniques to gain control when anxiety ensues. Depression is a little harder. I've heard there are some meds that do well but again I believe that addressing your problems will assist you in getting back to a functional lifestyle. (depression can be quite debilitating) Best wishes!

paxil(paroxetine) is what I'm on. I need extra help for sure, since the problem has been going on for years. It's for depression, OCD, anxiety, and several other things.
How long have you been suffering? I'd recommend a natural approach first, since it's so much easier on your body. St. John's Wort is fantastic--my aunt took it for years and swears by it. I'm going to wean myself off of paxil after this winter and get on that, since it works similar to other SSRI's.
Please keep in mind that many chemicals that mess with your brain function can cause your body to become dependent, through no fault of your own. Paxil is one of them, amongst many others. It works very well for me, though.
Your doctor, naturopath, or counselor would be the best person to talk to, since depression and anxiety are not something one should live with.

A very good Doctor!
that's the first line of call...they are trained to know what drug is o.k. for what person.
They are smarter than we give them credit....
But! go as soon as you can, before the condition gets even worse, and it can...did with me.
It will also take time to get into your system....but! well worth the little wait...believe me.I was a basket-case....like it was way bad. Now, I am having a good life...NEVER EVER stop taking just like dead stop....you must always ask the doctor....
And your not alone, it is a huge problem...as our world is totally stressed out...esp after 911.....so all the very best, and you look after
yourself....o.k.........smiles.

Don't take anything. Talk to a medical professional or mental health counselor first. There are many things you can do to improve your depression that does not involve medication.

Zoloft.
Tried Paxil (had sexual side effects) and Lexapro (didn't help at all).
I like Zoloft so much I am considering sending Pfizer a fruitcake at Christmas.

Regular exercise, healthy nutritious diet, meditation, and facing your fear of people and overcoming your social anxiety. You have to throw yourself out there and you will be glad you did.

I take Cymbalta and it works really well for me. You need to go to the doctor or psychiatrist and talk to them. They can recommend/prescribe the best medication for you.
