There are a few ways to handle this:

Most people don't get their wisdom teeth pulled unless it hurts. However, there are cases where it might NOT hurt, but you still need them taken out because they are growing in crooked and will push your other teeth out of proper place. I know this because I haven't pulled my wisom teeth since they don't hurt and now all of my teeth on the bottom are literally being shoved forward because my wisdom teeth are pushing them, even though it doesn't hurt.

It's your call, but I'd take your dentist's advice. If your wisdom teeth start pushing the others out of place, your teeth will be crooked and it'll be a pain in the a$$ to floss because your teeth will be so close together.

Good luck!

Keep your wisdom teeth if they are not causing problems. If you have even a little articulation with them, they help you chew. If they don't help you chew, they help retain bone mass in the jaw and also the current spacing for your other teeth. Many dentists hate to work on wisdom teeth if they have cavities because they are hard to get at.

Don't take them out just because the dentist tell you to do. Remember, everyone wants your money! If you are feeling any pain or if your other teeth are moving because of your wisdom teeth, then take your wisdom teeth out. But other than that, don't. My father had four wisdom teeth, and he was fine with them.

If your dentist thinks you should have them removed do it. I waited to have mine done and believe me, it caused a lot of pain. Plus it caused me to have cavities in some of my back teeth because there wasn't enough room in my mouth with my wisdom teeth to properly clean them.

He is trying to manipulate more money out of you.

My teeth are not in perfect alignment, but I don't want to get braces because I'm almost certain my dentist will say, "ok, but you need your wisdom teeth gone first."

The majority of people can live their whole lives with their wisdom teeth, especiall if they take care of the other teeth and mouth, in general.

Some people actually need theirs to be removed because they can cause crowding in the mouth, and that can lead to severe pain.

Mine only cause problems if I bite the inside of my cheek. It gets inflamed, then the gums surrounding my wisdoms gets inflamed - and it's all uncomfortable. I just deal with it. I'm also a big wimp when it comes to pain.

Yeah, I would do it. I got mine taken out when I was 22. One of them had carved a chunk out of my jaw so that my jawbone was actually separated. The tooth was the only thing that was holding it together, but I never would have known that if I hadn't had them x-rayed. Based on that experience, I could see how it would cause problems later in life.

I had 8 wisdom teeth. I'm pretty smart.

Also, the drugs are definitely worthwhile. I remember when I had mine taken out, I was completely loopy for about 4 days. I played Chrono Trigger for 8 hours straight, and it seemed like 20 minutes. I feel bad for my parents because they had to listen to it. If I could do it again, I would.

Are they actually in already? If they are and are not bothering you I would say just wait and see. Unless your dentist recommends it because of crowding or something. My dentist always told me mine would never give me any problems. However, over the last 13 years I have had them extracted one at a time; when they started bothering me. But mine never fully protruded, they were still impacted. The extractions never bothered me and I really didnt have much discomfort from the procedure. I am sure it is different if you have them all done at once. My husband still has all of his, they have never bothered him.

The only downfall to getting them removed now is pain for a day or two. I suggest that you do. Preventing anything from moving later on in life. Just do it!
