You can also o Walmart.com to look at some suggestions also. I did my daughters room with dark brown comfort with blue,whie and brown striped pillow and then the curtains matched. I use several different shades of pillows for her bed, a couple I made from old shirts she had.

Bed Bath and Beyond has good beddings and linens. Check your room too if it needs a different type of paint to give it a fresh look. I saw this cute bed spread and check these curtains too, you may like them.They have all the elements you are looking for.

why not mix a couple of different shade of blue ranging from dark to light om the bed

don't really go with pictures, but go with a more abstract design. It is definitely not too childish (well, most of the time) and it isn't too adult. You can get something with stripes, polka dots, or other designs.
