my wedding colors, I'm trying to figure out if I should put my Maid of Honor in one color and the rest in another, or if I should put an even number of the colors in my wedding party. I have my Maid of Honor and 2 bridesmaids. I was gonna have another bridesmaid, but the woman can't make it to the wedding. What do you all think would look better?

I hate to be the downer but my opinions come from doing numerous weddings as a coordinator in my past. Trust me, you do not want your MOH in another color. When you get your wedding pictures back, the only thing you want to stand out is you in your beautiful gown. You could opt for a smaller difference like a different top of her dress or different jewelry but please don't do the seperate color. She will feel like she stands out and you won't like the pictures as it will take away from the boldness of the difference of your gown. Traditionally, you, as the bride, (and sometimes your groom as well) are the only one(s) that gets to look different than everyone. A wedding looks best when it is uniformed and even. Don't worry about the number of girls, but pick one color for the ladies and stick to it.

I think it would look better if the Maid of Honor and the Bridesmaids all had the same color dress on.

I think it would look best if your maid of honor is in a different shade of the color that the other bridesmaids are wearing. For instance, if your bridesmaids are wearing green, then the maid of honor could be in a lighter or darker shade of that green. The maid of honor is obviously an "honored" position, so she should be "celebrated" as such..

I like the idea of different shades of the same color-it is usually better for pictures and it allows the MOH to be distinguished from the rest of the party.

Another idea to consider is the MOH in a different dress that is the same color as the bridesmaids

It is your day and ultimately they should accent you and the decorations not clash with them

Do whatever makes you happy and don't stress for hours or days over one day! Now take a deep breath INHALE, then EXHALE

Congratulations on your pending nuptials!

Here's something nobody has mentioned: have you ever thought of what it would all look like in pictures? Depending on what colors you end up choosing for dresses, tuxes, flowers, etc. you don't want your pictures to look like a bunch of confetti. I'm not saying that your color selection is bad at all but just another thought to consider!

The people you want to distinguish and have stand out the most is you and your groom. My husband and I had a deep red and white wedding. I had my white dress with a deep red rose bouquet and he had a black tux, white vest, and the same rose color for his pin. The girls wore the red dresses that matched my red flowers but their bouquets were the white flowers and the groomsmen wore black tuxes with red vests that matched the red roses but they had white roses for their pins.

The usual way to distinguish your MOH would be for her to have a bigger bouquet than the rest of the girls.

However, do what you feel best with. For instance, I had two maids of honor but we only had one best man!!! Go figure!! But nobody could tell me no!

Do the maid of hon our in a different style dress. Give her something similar but nice. My girls were in light gold with thin straps, my maid of hon our was in the same but strapless. The matching colours looked nicer for pictures, but she was a little fancier so she would stand out.

Maid of honor in one color and the rest in another color.

Oh, I just thought of a couple more color combos that'd look good.

You could do lavender and a soft yellow....or lavender and soft pink.

Ok, I'll shut up now. lol.

I think in the long run, it really REALLY doesn't matter. Let them choose if you can't. Either one will look good as long as the people in question look good in the colors and dresses.
